Just a couple of couples and babies...

James was sitting in his room, entertaining his new son with wand sparks as he waited for Sam to turn up. He was interested to meet her child and see if they knew any more about the situation than they did. And it would be nice for Arthur to have a friend his own age, even if this only lasted a few more days.

Hermione was doing what she did best in times like these: she was reading a book. Her motherly instincts were still not kicking in. Perhaps seeing another mother at work would motivate her.

Sam let Jack carry Gracie to James' room, checking each room as they passed since Sam hadn't visited before now. She was a bit concerned still about his demonstration of magic but, by now, she was getting used to the idea.

She still preferred technology though. Sam rapped her knuckles lightly against the door when they got there and reached to hold Jack's hand.

He was mildly distracted at the moment by the baby making a burbling sound, but he looked down at that movement, then looked at her face. He said nothing, merely squeezed her hand in return. If she was worried, he'd be there to back her up. It was, after all, tradition between them, really.

The baby was in a comfortable sling, around his chest, hands a-grasping. There was definitely parts of him in that kid, he wagered.

"You do realize that if your genetics are in this kid, she'll have disassembled the crib before we know what hit us. Maybe remade it into a tasteful glider."

James heard the knock and, instead of getting up, he flicked his wand at the door to make it open before continuing his spark show for Arthur.

"Glad you made it. Please, come in. This is Arthur." He pointed at the little boy who was grabbing at the green and red sparks above his head, giggling happily.

Hermione peered up over the top of her book. So these were James's friends.

"Hullo," she greeted them casually. "I'm Hermione." She didn't clarify as being Arthur's mother. It just sounded too weird.

"Hopefully we'll be awake before she gets that far... She probably will get it disassembled eventually though. Shame we don't have Thor here to make one she can't get out of."

Oh boy, already with the magic. It was okay though, Sam could handle this! She handled Jaffa, System Lords and blowing up a star. This was easy. Still, she held onto Jack hand and headed inside.

The older woman smiles to Hermione and nods.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Sam Carter. And it's nice to see you again, James."

The wand thingey was a bit show-offy, but it was pretty cool, kind of.

He waved to them both, casually.

"Hey. I'm Jack. General Jack O'Neill, to be specific."

Because the title might be useful, and well, they had magic. So he should have his own thing. It was logical, really.

James smiled. "Nice to meet you, Jack. General Jack O'Neill." Since he doesn't know what that really means, it's quite useless but James doesn't mind. Arthur seems happy looking at the sparks and that's all that matters to me.

"Who've you got there then?" He nodded to the bundle in the sling around Jack's neck.

"A playmate for Arthur?" Hermione guessed with a smile. He was only a baby but having someone to play with would still benefit him. "There's a playpen for them somewhere..."

The castle really knew how to provide for these makeshift families. She eventually found the playpen and pulled it out so it would be in full view of the parents.

"There! Now they can play together."
