The Awakening
Who: Phoenix Wright, Maya Fey, Carson Beckett, Miles Edgeworth
What: Carson and Miles have a little chat, Phoenix awakens from his week-long coma and they are all met with a certain... surprise.
When: Morning of Thursday, Jan 26.
Where: The Clinic
Rating: G (Semi-Casual Style for speed purposes)
It has been one week since the fateful incident that had been the bane of Edgeworth's entire week. Two slightly inebriated lawyers, one window, a foolish gesture on Wright's part, and an accidental 'slip-up' on Edgeworth's part resulted in the very same accident that he had attempted to prevent from occurring.
Wright had been knocked out of his second-story window, bashing his head on a tree branch on the way down. He had been out ever since.
Edgeworth had come to visit his comatose friend each day (save for the past two in which he was literally cloistered with a demon stranger), spending hours at his bedside and wallowing in the overwhelming guilt and melancholy that he largely tried to keep to himself. He had become more hopeless with each passing day, compounded with the sinking feeling that once again, he might have been the one responsible for someone else's death. He'd spend his hours each day reading a book, having a cup of tea, playing a digital chess game - all the while hoping that when, or if, Phoenix finally opened his eyes, he'd be the first one there.

"Ah, Mr. Edgeworth, I hope I didn't wake you up."

Carson walks over, setting his notepad down. "How's our patient? Still no change?"
no subject
[Miles exhales exasperatedly, looking over at his comatose friend in what may seem to others as a glare.]
I don't understand, Dr. Carson...It's been so long. Will he truly recover from this? At this point, won't his muscles atrophy?
no subject
Carson then frowns. "However, if this is the castle's doing, then I don't know what the long-term effects would be."

But after one particularly frightening dream, he suddenly becomes aware of something else--the smell of tea and the sensation of light on the other side of his tightly shut eyelids. With that small change, he understands somewhere deep inside that he should be trying to wake up.
So that's exactly what he does, forcing his eyes to open even though the light hurts and startles him. He looks around, confused and not yet coherent enough to do anything more than lie still except for his darting eyes.]

At last. He couldn't believe it. Phoenix was stirring. He bolted up from his chair, placing a palm on each side of the hospital bed. Just when Carson had gone off to check on another patient. So, he called out to any of physicians within earshot, and watched Phoenix expectantly and frantically.]
D-Doctor! Wright, can you hear me? Doctor!
no subject
When finally the question he's been asked sinks in, he nods slowly in response to it. He doesn't know what's going on, but he's piecing together that something isn't right--he's hurting and confused, and Edgeworth is so worried--and he has to get himself out of this haze somehow.]
no subject
At this time, due to the overwhelming gratitude at seeing his friend alive, he wanted nothing more than to scoop Phoenix into his arms and hug him for once. And he might have done it this time around, if it weren't for the fact that he didn't want to cause him any more pain. He wanted to apologize profusely. He wanted to do whatever he could to expunge whatever discomfort he might have caused.]
no subject
The action calls up a faint memory of being shoved--was I pushed? someone pushed me...--but he's not quite putting it all together yet.]
no subject
Say someth-- [He stops himself, knowing that Wright can't talk, what with his loss.]
Tch.
[He gives him a few more moments until attempting to run a test himself. He extends a finger in front of Wright's face, and moves to slowly to the right, then to te left.]
Follow my finger, if you can.
no subject
Feeling he has effectively followed Edgeworth's finger back and forth enough times, he takes a deep breath and makes an effort at heaving himself up into a sitting position. He feels absolutely creaky, and for the first time it crosses his mind to wonder exactly how long he's been asleep.]
no subject
[He gently presses upon his shoulders in an attempt to bring him back into his former position.]

Which is why she comes into Nick's room with three cards, all of them brimming with little artistic details of questionable quality....... (in case you're wondering, one is Steel Samurai themed, one is Kurain Village themed, and the last one is... law themed)
So when she opens the door and sees Phoenix awake, her face breaks into a huge smile]
Nick!
no subject
And he greets her, the fact that Phoenix had finally come to couldn't bring him more happiness at the moment. And because of this, he smiles...the first time he's ever smiled a true smile in ages...]
...Yes. Finally.
/hijacks thread
Maya! I can talk...!
we can always make it a three-way thread :3 I'd be cool with that if you guys are!
Wha- Nick, that's great!
Of course~ We could do it randomly or in order (I vote randomly since Edgey's relatively quiet)
I am good with this~
Yeah, kind of makes falling out the window all worth it.
<3
Right! I know you're kind of a pro at falling off of stuff, but are you okay? Are you dizzy? Any bones that feel kind of wobbly?
no subject
[Except for having a bizarrely killer neck ache and feeling like everything is slightly foggy, but he's sure those things will pass soon!]
Er... sorry for worrying you.
no subject
I'll forgive you this once. But no more diving off of things, promise?
