Things are fairly quiet on the second morning. Felix doesn't seem to be in a hurry to get moving at the break of dawn at any rate. It's nice to work at his own pace rather than one set by the Curia or anyone else for that matter.

Don't let that fool you, however. Once breakfast is out of the way, it's back to the task at hand.

"I can't say as though I've had those," she admitted. While similar to Earth cuisine in many ways, Aselia's didn't have much to offer in the way of packaged food, and Raine had never really got the hang of it from her time in the castle. Easier to wish up something already prepared, or have the ghosts cook it.

"Really?" That made Willow blink. And realize again just how different they all were.

She reached for her pack then, rummaging around until a chewy concoction of cranberries and almonds emerged. She passed it over.

"You should try one then. You might like it."

Raine took it curiously, looking over the packaging thoroughly before opening it. Ah, cooked oats and high-nutrient ingredients held together in an easy-to-eat bar. Yes, that would be something good to take along on a journey. But how would it taste? She took a bite experimentally.

"Oh, this is quite good."

Willow smiled as the other woman took a exploratory bite of the small granola bar. She wasn't sure why it really mattered that much that she liked it? But they were all going to be working together. It seemed as good a start as any.

"There are all kinds of them, but I really like that one."

"Yes, I can see that it would be a fairly simply matter to alter the recipe. You could add chili, perhaps."

No, stop her, nobody should want her trying to make them on her own.

Willow blinked. And it was not because of the smoke from the fire.

"Like chili powder? Or actual chili?"

"I suppose I could try both." Raine looked thoughtful, which was probably a bad sign. "The powder wouldn't really have much nutritional benefit, though."

That actually caused Willow to laugh. As points went, it was a fair one.

"So when you are in a kitchen, how much time do you lose?"

"Oh, I wouldn't call any time spent experimenting as lost time, per se," she admitted. "But if it's not cooking with a set goal in mind, such as dinner, well. It can be quite a while."

"You know what?" Willow almost sounded surprised despite herself. "That almost sounds like fun. The second one."

"Well, then," Raine said, smiling a bit, "you should certainly try it out some time. After all, if you don't like the result you can always simply wish up a replacement."

She made a small face.

"I am not always big with the wishing. Call it a hard-learned lesson from home."

"That's more than fair," she admitted, "though I don't mind so much. It took my memories and placed my falsified background in another world for over a year. It does seem to owe me a few small objects."

Not to mention kidnapped everyone from their homes, forced losses upon them...though it wouldn't surprise her at all to learn there was some sort of extra cost to wishes.

Willow blinked again, and not because of the smoke from the fire.

"Wait." Concerned voice was -- well, concerned. "What did the castle do?"

"Well, do you recall the world change a month and a half ago? I believed I was a Pokemon professor."

She'd almost brought Ampharos along with her on this trip as well, for that matter.

She did remember. Her expression grew more somber.

"I didn't realize people's memories were altered like that."

[ruin_mania]

Raine nodded. It wasn't just her who was affected either, naturally.

"All of us who have returned to the castle after some time away when it was thought we went home have been affected in such a way."

[its_worthdoing]

So you didn't? Go home, I mean?" To this point Willow did not know anyone that had gone home only to come back with any kind of memories intact. She was curious.

"I didn't. I was, to my knowledge, in Unova the entire time."

Though with the way Paradisa messes with memories, it's hard to say for certain.

Her mouth compressed into a line at the idea.

"I'm sorry."

It was sincerely said.

"Well," Raine said, looking the slightest bit embarrassed, "it was actually a very pleasant place. The society was rather more peaceful than mine."

[its_worthdoing]

"You don't want to go home then?" Willow didn't judge, she was just curious. A lot of people didn't want to go back.

[ruin_mania]

"Oh, don't get me wrong, there's still much to be done at home." But it was nice not being constantly judged for your race. "But I see no rush to return."
