[Martel actually started holding onto Zelos loosely around the waist an hour or so ago, after they went over a hilly patch of ground. They'd been riding for a few hours, she thinks, from the way the sun has been moving. She can't tell, of course. And she can't tell where they are, either. She's never been out this far from the Castle, really. That doesn't mean she's not enjoying, it, though.]

So, have you been to this place before? Wanderer's Yard.

A what?

Guinea fowl. They're cute little things that look like chickens. They were running around in the break room of the clinic and Dr. House was going to kill them with surgical equipment.

[wilder]

[...]

Huh. So those stories from the reunion do hold merit.

[heal_theworld]

[She blinks.] What stories?

[wilder]

Oh you know...that he's the doctor of death, reaper of souls, has a sickle cane- stuff like that. There was some family feud going on between two families, I remember that much.

He didn't seem too bad when I talked to him, so most of it was probably just rumors spread by the Starks.

[heal_theworld]

Right. Well, to stop him I stole his cane. And wouldn't let him have it back until the guinea fowl were safe outside.

[wilder]

You stole his cane? Seriously? [ISN'T HE CRIPPLED?]

[heal_theworld]

He was going to kill them with a surgical scalpel. What do you suggest I should have done?

[wilder]

Right right, I guess you didn't have much of a choice.

[heal_theworld]

I gave it back. Anyway, I doubt it could make his opinion of me sink much lower.

[wilder]

That so, huh?

[a shrug; not surprised- House did not seem friendly] Oh well.

[heal_theworld]

Oh well. It's not the first time I've had someone mindlessly hate me. [But that makes her curious.] Though that reminds me, I kept meaning to ask you, but... Why, exactly, do you dislike Yuan so much?

[wilder]

Huh?

[heal_theworld]

Oh, don't think I haven't noticed. To be honest, I don't think he particularly likes or trusts you either. I don't think he wants you around me. Or something like that. [She pauses.] Though he's never said it in so many words.

[A pause. The words are flashing through his mind. I don't like him because he helped twist our world so badly. Because he helped create the Chosen system. Because it took him so many centuries to get a clue what he was doing was wrong. Because his solution to fix the mess was to kill off Chosens of the declining world while using the Chosens of the flourishing world. Because he brought exspheres to Tethe'alla without mentioning the oh so small detail that they are made out of human lives.]

[And it was because he had every intention of using Zelos. He approached him claiming he was better than Cruxis, which while he was in his motives? Zelos never saw him as better in his methods. He still saw Zelos as a disposable commodity, nothing more. Still tried to use him for years. He only joined up with Lloyd when he was left with no choice.]

[Left with no choice thanks to Zelos, actually. Play with fire and...]

[Zelos knew he was a bastard for playing all three sides for so long, there was a lot about that he regretted. There was even some Renegade members he felt bad for betraying. The innocent ones who had signed up with the simple intention of saving the world, that had no involvement in the planning. The ones that probably would've gotten along great with Lloyd and the others. He hopes those guys are still alive and well, somehow.]

[Yuan? Wasn't on that list. He wasn't getting on that list anytime soon, either. Zelos simply wasn't as forgiving as Lloyd or Colette. He wished he was, but being burned too many times made it harder. Some days in Paradisa, the days he has to hear about how great Yuan is so much, he has half the mind to speak his piece. To tell everyone EXACTLY what kind of person Zelos knew him as. Like this moment right now.]

[wilder]

[But....he abstains.]

[What was the point? All it would do is cause more trouble. It would cause grief for Martel and his friends. He didn't want that. He didn't want to start trouble with Yuan, he wanted to be left alone about the whole topic. That's all. Let sleeping dogs lie and all that.]

[And...maybe Colette and Lloyd were right in being willing to forgive him. Being willing to be his friend and thinking the best of him. He did realize what he was doing was wrong with Cruxis, at least. He wasn't as bad as Mithos...even if Zelos had trouble getting over his grudges.]

[So...he lets out a sigh, trying to let out the steam. His shoulders relax as he does so. ]

If it's all the same...I rather keep that to myself.

[heal_theworld]

[Martel gives him a look, but it's mostly aimed at his back, and merely thoughtful. Sometimes, she figures, there are things she is not supposed to know.] ...It's all right. I know the man can be absolutely impossible sometimes. I thought he was the most infuriating man I would ever have the displeasure of knowing the first time I met him.

[wilder]

[he doesn't want to know about Yuan. He doesn't want to talk about him again. Just like he wants Mithos to stay dead, and he wants to find a way home tomorrow. Or even better...to wake up tomorrow morning and to find out everything had been nothing but a bad dream. ]

[But...whatever will be, will be. There was no point on dwelling on wishes and dreams far beyond his control]

Heh, really?

[heal_theworld]

Really. [But she senses that the topic is over, and she had best stop talking before she finally manages to put her foot really into it.] But that's neither here nor there.

[wilder]

Heh, if you say so.

[But he's relieved for that and falls quiet as he continues to ride. Soon enough, the walls of the Wanderer's Yard become much bigger and closer as they get close to their arrival]

[Martel watches over his shoulder as it gets closer and closer.] And least we're almost there... [This has become slightly awkward.]

[wilder]

Yep! Scaley could use the rest.

[You made it so lady. And closer and closer they get!]

[heal_theworld]

Scaley could. And so could I. We've been riding for a while. [And she didn't know it was that bad.]

[wilder]

[It's Aselia. Everything is THAT bad]

Heh, yeah we have been.

[A bit more of silent riding, and they arrive at the foot of the wall of the Wanderer's Yard. Zelos stops the mount]

This must be it!

[heal_theworld]

[She laughs, shaking her head.] I never would have known without you, the Great Zelos Wilder.
