A clicking sound can be heard from the entrance as Mufasa's pawpads come in contact with the cool, solid ground, the relative loudness of the clicking being evidence to his great size. For a wild animal, his coat and mane are well-kept, and even though he's in a completely foreign area-- maybe even especially so-- he keeps his head held high. Though he has a guarded look to him, nothing in his body language indicates hostility. He stops once he's a few strides inside, looking around for any sign of life.

"There is a possibility."

She pauses for a moment to think this over, fiddling with her knitting needles just a bit.

"You have been pulled into a different world by forces beyond logical explanation, and the door opens only one way. Is that simple enough?"

Beyond logical explanation, huh...

"It will do," Mufasa rumbles, shifting on his paws. "Although, a permanent relocation hadn't been on my to-do list."

"What a shame." Rose smirks dryly. "It was certainly on mine, the day I was brought here."

"How fortunate for you."

Rose lightens up on the smirk. Possibly because it's evident that sarcasm just isn't the correct method of communication when speaking to a wizened old lion.

"No one here is happy about it, save for the few who's relocation came at an otherwise unfortunate end." She straightens out her hood, a bit absently.

The last bit Rose says is suddenly far more interesting than everything anyone has said to him since he'd arrived.

"An unfortunate end?"

He's kind of got this feeling he already knows what that means. But it doesn't hurt to check.

"Precisely what it entails." Her smirk doesn't disappear, but it takes on a gloomier air.

[circleoflife]

"... I see."

Well. Suddenly, the reason that he didn't wake up feeling like he'd just gotten trampled makes a lot more sense.

[fluthlu]

She observes him carefully, taking note of his expression and only raising her eyebrows slightly when he speaks. Ah. Things are suddenly quite clear to her.

"My genuine apologies for my blunt address of the topic. But it is a matter than many new residents have quite some trouble coming to terms with."

"But not all arrive in this fashion," he clarifies. "How peculiar."

If Mufasa really had just died, he was doing an excellent job of being-- or at least seeming-- wholly unbothered by the thought.

"A rather small number do, in fact. There seems to be no pattern or apparent reason. I'm afraid I can't give any further insight than that."

Rose definitely has suspicions based on his words, and his unbothered expression does little to shake that. After all, she would probably be acting similarly had she just shown up post-mortem.

"That is fine," he responds, before offering a friendly smile. As much as he's not okay with being, well, deceased, it's a bit easier to relax knowing returning home was not a priority, however sad a fact that also was. "I apologize for the barrage of questions. I am Mufasa."

[fluthlu]

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mufasa." She gives him a polite nod in place of a handshake. "My name is Rose."

A chuckle.

"It's an appropriate name."

[fluthlu]

"I have been told that before," she says. "Possibly due to the frequency at which I wear the color."

[circleoflife]

"Among other things, I'm sure," he says, but not unkindly. While Rose was a tad too snarky for his tastes, he didn't mind the bit of bite the girl had to her.

He was commenting on her appearance as well; even though he'd only just begun to see humans today, Rose did appear pleasing to the eye.
