The room is familiar to you, as well it should be -- it's your school's library. There are stacks of books all around, and an upper floor you can reach by means of a spiral staircase. There are tables in a row, with two seats each, uncomfortable chairs made of plastic that was probably bright once, but is now worn, dirt finding its way between bumps in the rough surface.

You're here for the remainder of the day, stuck in this room, a punishment for whatever rule you broke.

How will you pass the time?

[She'll be the first to arrive, an ironic gesture on her part perhaps, giving the VP a defiant gaze before strolling to the back of the room, to a desk off to the side. Arms will be folded, notebook on her lap as she opens it quickly, taking a pen to the paper and saying not a word.]

[TAHIRI......... Mr. Boy gives her a flat, steely look in return. Gurl. You better sit down.]

[Watch her do it in one fluid motion! There's even an audible PLOP. ALSO WHAT IF SHE WAS WEARING HER SUNGLASSES TOO?]

[THEN HE WILL RESPOND TO THAT LIKE SO:]

Tahiri. Shades off indoors.

[kalinda]

[Oh, here comes that defiant look again. Except it's much more apparent when she tips them upward, letting them rest atop her head rather than removing them completely.]

[FROWN.] Miss Tahiri, if you don't watch yourself, you're going to get in real trouble one of these days.

[kalinda]

Oh, I don't doubt it. [Grin.]

[FLAT LOOK...] That's not something you should be proud of.

Maybe spending nine hours here will give you some time to consider where your life is heading.

[kalinda]

In a downward spiral toward my inevitable downfall if I continue on this wretched path, I'm sure. [Shifts in her seat, tapping her pen onto the spirals of her notebook.]

[He jabs a finger toward her. GRRR.]

You need to learn to respect your elders, young lady. Mouthing off won't get you anywhere in life.

[kalinda]

[Wow, it's like someone is shoving a smoking red bratwurst toward her.]

It will harden me for the cruelty of the real world, though. [And, looking around?] Not to mention the fact I'll be able to keep these miscreants in line.

You aren't Queen of Detention, Miss Tahiri. You're here to be punished, not to socialize.

[kalinda]

[SHE COULD BE...]

That's just the thing. Being around these people is punishment enough. [A beat.] I could cultivate my leadership skills so I won't have to turn to a life of petty crime.

If being around them is punishment, maybe you'll remember that the next time you get the urge to display your "artistic talents."

[kalinda]

[Petulant sigh. Arms being folded behind her head as she rolls her eyes.]

Everyone's a critic.

Vandalism is a crime, Tahiri. But I'm sure you know what crimes are by now.

[kalinda]

Of course I do.
