The room is familiar to you, as well it should be -- it's your school's library. There are stacks of books all around, and an upper floor you can reach by means of a spiral staircase. There are tables in a row, with two seats each, uncomfortable chairs made of plastic that was probably bright once, but is now worn, dirt finding its way between bumps in the rough surface.
You're here for the remainder of the day, stuck in this room, a punishment for whatever rule you broke.

well, it's not like this is the first time he's ever been beaten up. and he's had the whole morning to stare dully around the library, taking in every detail...
he takes a swig out of his thermos for courage - and because he's going to be doing a LOT of running - and gets up]

she's faster than he expected, though, so that fist catches him right in the cheek. he staggers backwards, and ends up with one hand on his chair - his chair! yes.
quickly, he puts it between them, still reeling a little bit. but running dizzy is a skill he's gotten pretty good at. you know how coaches tell you to walk it off?
