Introducing the People of Paradisa

What: While the two love birds have a romantic picnic within the courtyard, several nosy imps decide to crash their little party.

Rating: PG-13 and much embarrassment on Celeborn's part.

[The gentle autumn breeze welcomed the two star-crossed lovers as they dined together upon several blankets spun from the finest wool. It was the perfect afternoon for a picnic, one comprised of clear sunny skies damped in bright cyan and fluffy white clouds that rolled past in an endless march to the distant horizon. Such a day was like most others here in paradise but what made this day so unique from others was two lovers who sat under the shadow of a sturdy maple tree. They dined and laughed in unison, the two of them greatly enjoying their time together in the form of flirtatious quips and innocent kisses. It was quite ridiculous how in love these two were but anyone with eyes could tell that they're definitely take their vows seriously.

Gently brushing his lips against Galadriel's hand, Celeborn was honestly not aware of the small crowd that gathered nearby. It seemed that many of Galadriel's friends have taken an interest in their timeless romance, many of which seemed more impish than curious. While he most certainly welcomes any and all of his wife's dear friends, Celeborn might be the first to remind them that this sacred time he shares with his beloved is his and his alone.

The Lord of Lothlórien can be a tad selfish like that.]

The glorious shine of the day fails in comparison to your beauty, my eternal queen.

[He whispers quietly with a faint smirk curling upon his lips. Celeborn could go on for days in admiration of Galadrial's celestial beauty but he rather not embarrass her so in public.]

Well, if you were wise, you would know not to brag, wouldn't you? It's just common sense not to. Modesty would have nothing to do with it. [This has to be the strangest discussion she has ever gotten into with Galadriel. Why must Galadriel's type of elves be so confusing?]

One need not boast to acknowledge one's talents and gifts.

A clever point, Martel. If one is truly wise then they need not display their wisdom for they already know their worth in words.

[ He sighs slightly. ]

Pay no heed to me. I would soon talk in riddles if such a topic continues.

[heal_theworld]

[Martel smiles.] Don't worry about it. I don't mind in the least. Talking to Galadriel, and you now, is always a pleasure. [And Galadriel should know why.]

[She does. But she'll leave depressing story time to Martel.]

I feel humble to know you truly enjoy our company.

[ Depressing story time? What depressing story? ]

[A very depressing story.] Well, don't be. You're by far the nicest elves I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.

From the sounds of it, it is not a difficult honor to attain.

[ His dark gaze shifts towards Galadriel for a brief moment. ]

...Is there something I'm unaware about?

[heal_theworld]

Ah, elves are... [How to explain this...] Not exactly the nicest people in my world. I was born in their village, Heimdall, and was exiled once I was old enough to fend for myself. Because I was a half-elf, and elves hate half-elves, possibly more than they hate humans.

[...YEP.]

So you see, my love, why she is so pleased to find that it is not so in all worlds.

[silvertree]

[ Celeborn stares at the green-haired maiden with a look of disbelief in his gray gaze. ]

What sort of madness plagues these elves? 'Tis well known that the Elves of Middle-earth hold very little love for humankind, but we could never be so cruel.

Not madness, just...utter superiority. They do not care about humans or half-elves. They don't care that the humans have been fighting a war for 1,000 years, and it is killing the world. As long as they remain unbothered in their village, they are perfectly fine to ignore the world at large and anything that is not an elf.

And humans don't even mind, as they wish for the elves to remain in their village, because humans distrust elves and their long lifespans. They don't want them to meddle and keeping them in one place is the best way to watch them. [She pauses here.] Humans hate half-elves, though, as they can mimic humans, and have elven lifespans and magic.

[Galadriel glances between Celeborn and Martel before speaking.]

They may ignore the world for now, but there will come a time when the world will not ignore them. Our people, too, are secluded by nature- mayhaps we have been so for too long- and this is a lesson that we have learned well.

[silvertree]

Ignore we did, the world itself. In our arrogance, the Elves believed in their superiority and chose to ignore everything that transpired beyond our woods. Such a grievous fact this is, one as true as the sun's celestial glow.

[ He mumbles sigh. ]

We've learned much since those times, but our lesson came far too late.

[heal_theworld]

[She sighs.] At least you've learned. 4,000 years later, and the elves still hold the same beliefs. [If not worse because of what her brother did.]

And they are the poorer for it, whether they know it or no.

[silvertree]

The yesteryear of their negligence shall bring about great sorrow in the days to come. They shall realize the errors of their ways when the world they knew crumbles at their feet, forever changing their way of life.

[heal_theworld]

They survived 4,000 years of... [Whoah, getting into really depressing territory here.] Well, I'm not sure if they'll ever change.

[inafadingcrown]

[Galadriel can guess that it's more depressing territory. And if it's depressing enough to make Martel stop, she's not going to push.]

A pity.
