[It's just an unassuming Monday for everyone else. But for Lloyd, this means more-- so much more. Now that everyone's back from the expedition and people have been suitably warned (everyone except Zelos, of course) it's time to get things going. Everyone coming here should have the address of the place and the time to meet up. There's about an hour before Zelos is supposed to come home.

The party is set up on the first floor of their big family house. There's plenty of yard space as well as living room space. From the outside, though, it's supposed to be unassuming-- otherwise it wouldn't be a surprise.]

[The buffet table is bare and the chairs are still stacked against the wall. There's a couple boxes of birthday decorations that need to go up, stat! Or you can stand around and be lazy or crash on the couch or talk or-- you know, do whatever.]

[HI let's pretend Aradia found out about this somehow and life parties are almost as fun as death parties. She is just grabbing some supplies to mess with herself when she is gently bopped on the head with a balloon........ and doesn't even notice until Colette says something.]

Huh? Drop what? [She passes a hand over her head, trying to find what "one" she speaks of, but of course it has long continued to the floor to join the others.]

THE BIG SURPRISE

[After sending an URGENT FILTER to Zelos telling him to come home immediately, Lloyd tells everyone to hide. The lights go out, the curtains are closed, and...

... Seriously, be quiet, everybody. At least until Zelos gets inside. Then you can jump out and yell HAPPY BIRTHDAY except his birthday was two weeks ago but WHO CARES.

[Zelos had gotten the urgent filter fairly soon and you know, being from a life of suck immediately assumed it was for the worst. An attack? Someone had gotten hurt and needed healing? Colette fell into the well? Either way, he's hurrying home.]

[And it sure doesn't help that when he reaches the yard and gets near the door, his ears pick up the sound of SEVERAL people silently waiting in his house. Oh. Good. Attackers waiting for him sounds much more likely. Just like many other times people have tried to kill him.]

[So he's drawing his sword, though not raising it yet and is heading into the house preparing for the worst]

[Tsuna didn't know a lot about Zelos, so he capitalized on the thing he did know.

His gift isn't wrapped up because Tsuna hasn't the first idea of how to wrap presents, but at least it's in a nice, compact form. It's not a murse, Zelos.

There's a note-- legible, though you might have to squint and/or use context for some of the words-- folded up and tucked into the front "pocket" of the blanket so that it sticks out.

It reads:
You said you were on the roof a lot, so I thought you could have something more comfortable to sit on, since the roof is pretty rough to sit on.

You're a good friend and mentor, Zelos. I hope I can be a good enough student.

[ This is Arya. This is Arya holding a basket with a covered ceramic dish and a delicately embroidered handkerchief. This is Arya under a layer of flour and looking ready to kill someone. Maybe several someones. Standing next to her, Nymeria's darker colored patches have also been dusted white. Unlike Arya, Nymeria is cheerful. Comes from enjoying a hot meal.

[ Uru brought her own homemade muffins. They're sweet, but not overdone and soft and fresh. She places it somewhere where it's visible yet safe from being knocked over. She's also left a birthday card signed, "Happy birthday, Zelos! I hope you have a great one and that we become even better friends in the future.

[There's a chair-shaped blob placed near the table, but out of the way. It's covered with a blanket and there's a hand-drawn card sitting on it. It has a beach. Because summer. And because Zelos.

The inside reads:

Happy birthday Zelos! I wasn't really sure what to get you, so I made something. I know I act like you get on my nerves a lot, but you're one of my best friends and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Taking off the cover reveals a hand-made rocking chair, complete with its own red and gold seat cushion. The wood is a beautiful dark red, and if one looks closely, there's plenty of details in the carving. They range from trees to branches to flowers, and there's even a bird with its wings spread in the backboard.]
