Welcome to my nightmare

[Sheena had planned to go back to Lloyd's house as soon as she could, but that plan was changed without her permission as she succumbed to whatever malevolent force decided to infiltrate the castle and put its residents to sleep.

Like many others, she now sleeps deeply, no movement or sound except the occasional protest as her slumber is interrupted by memories and nightmares she had long ago buried.

Memories that are now alive and well and waiting to share themselves with whoever crosses their paths.

Sleep well.]

[She looks at him, her eyes slightly haunted.]

I can't.

[Looks at her for a moment. His gaze softening for a second before he extends his hand at her.]

Yes, you can.

[She looks at him a moment, the debate on what to do visible in her eyes before she finally takes his hand.

And things change. This time, Cloud is with adult Sheena, watching the scene he had just experienced with child Sheena in her proper place.]

[The puzzle is starting to get shape at last. While he is not sure of how is it that he's seeing this, but he can finally understanding what is going on. Squeezes the hand of adult Sheena a little. It is a disheartening scene, but it's not the only thing that's making him hurt. Ah, because he is. The desire of being loved, of being part of something. Though he's not fully aware of it. For all he knows, he might be sharing Sheena's pain too. And maybe he is.]

C'mon... You've watched enough. [And pulls her some.]

[Sheena's not sure how he's here, either. It's got to be some trick of the castle, but how and why, she's not sure. She returns the squeeze, but doesn't ease up on it. This is the first time that anyone's ever supported her in this dream, and she doesn't want to lose it.]

Grandpa... [It's softly spoken as she takes a step, the scene now becoming that of a forest.]

[Gives her a puzzled stare.]

What now...? [Those changes were pretty weird.]

[There's the sound of a baby crying nearby, and Sheena gravitates to it--almost running. A sense of longing fills the air as she draws closer. Maybe. Maybe this time. Maybe this time she'll see her parents.]

[Cloud can't do much but follow her.]

[They get to the place where the child is, and that sense of longing quickly turns into disappointment. The only person found is the baby, and when Sheena moves away, Cloud may notice a familiar shade of purple hair on top of the infant's head.]

[He in fact notices, but makes no mention of it. Can it be a coincidence?

...

Yeah, sure, keep thinking that...]

Sheena. [Approaches to her.]

We have to go... [This place, it couldn't be good for her.]

[Not by a long shot is it a coincidence.

She turns to him, slowly, perplexed.]

Cloud? [He's still there? But he can't be there? She must have mixed past and present up somehow, right? Because if he's real then she'd never be able to do the one things she's never been able to do in this dream:

Find some comfort in a hug.

So, be careful, Cloud, as she suddenly launches herself at you for that hug.]

[It takes him by surprise! In fact he thinks at first that she might have gotten mad at him for not leaving her alone! He tries to get away but once he feels her arms around him and her face buried on his chest, he freezes.

... What the heck is going on?]

S-Sheena... Are you... What's wrong? [It was obvious what was wrong! But what else could he ask, really?]

[It's called a hug, Cloud, and your reaction proves that you're the Cloud she knows, and not someone who looks like him. Otherwise, the reaction would have been different.

She knows she should pull away, but she can't, and though her voice is muffled, the words are still clear.]

I never get to see them!

[Oh brother... What did he get into? Seconds pass before he actually raises his arms to put them around her, loosely at first.]

See who...?

[You got into her dream, Cloud, that's all.]

My parents...

Were you expecting to see them there?

Hoping. I was hoping to.

[Suddenly, there's another sound--someone else is walking through the forest, towards the loudly crying child. Grabbing Cloud's hand, Sheena ducks behind a large bush with him and peers towards the baby.]

Please let this be the same...

[Huh... He was about to tell her something about his own parents to make her feel better when she pulls him away.]

The same what...?

The same as before.

[Because Cloud is present and real, she knows the castle's involved somehow, and is afraid that it'll interfere with the next part.

A bit silly perhaps, because it's a dream and can't really change what's already happened, but she can't help it.]

[Soon, an older gentleman comes into view and makes his way over to the baby, making soft comforting noises to quiet the child.]

Grandpa...

Was it the same as before?

[She nods, smiling when some of the talk turns goofy as he begins to walk away. Even the look he casts in their direction is the same as every other time she's had this dream--as though he knows she's there.

She waits until he's gone before stepping out of her hiding place, her voice full of awe.]

I don't remember my parents or a lot from when I was a baby, so this is what I started to imagine had happened.

[He thinks about it for a moment. Did that mean this wasn't real? ... Either way...]

Do you know a way out of here?

[She nods.]

Towards Ozette.

[She never goes back to Mizuho; she searches for her parents in the other direction.]
