[It took quite a bit of work on short notice, but the castle cemetery has undergone a remarkable transformation this evening. Every grave is decked out in brightly colored flowers, especially marigolds. As night falls, the place will start to glow by candlelight as well. There's a primary table with food laid out, where you can put your potluck dishes, and another small one with some craft supplies. The music playing is upbeat, like it's encouraging you to dance! This is meant to be a happy occasion, after all.]

[ Alice rather likes this response to her presence, picking up the table mirror she used to set it in front of him. ]

Ah, thanks.

[He'll start with the black, of course, dabbing it in and putting it up to his face as he takes the mirror up in his own hand. As he starts, he'll glance over at her, eyebrow raising.]

So...do you do this often, or?

Not often enough.

[THAT'S a weird answer.]

Erm. So you enjoy it a lot, I'm guessing?

[ Alice takes a smaller brush and outlines the flowers on her face meticulously. ]

Do you?

I haven't done it much, so...I don't know if I can say yes or no to that, honestly.

[He's almost done with the base, only covering the side of his face that is visible- the last thing he wants is to get his hair matted with paint.]

[ Alice turns to inspect his work. ]

You're only dead on one side.

[thehangedrose]

[The way she said that made him glance to the side uncomfortably- "dead" on one side, huh? What a way to say that...]

Well, it's not like I can do the other side, my hair would just get in the way!

[This being said even though it's like the easiest thing in the world to push your hair back, come on.]

[ Which is exactly what Alice will try to do, reaching out a hand to push his hair back. What are rules of personal space even? ]

Um, m-miss-!

[He flushes due to the invasion of his personal space, and by the time he tries to reach up to prevent her from doing that, he's too late, and there's nothing but his face where his fingers are. Surprise, surprise, he has another eye, but if one looks closely it's a bit cloudy compared to the other one.]

That's...you could've allowed me, you know...

[ Alice does notice the difference in the other eye but makes no comment on it, yet. She lets go of him and shrugs. ]

Where would the fun be in that?

...I don't know, but generally there is something called "personal space", you know.

[And a slight sigh as he starts dabbing on paint again. God he almost feels naked, what with the other eye exposed. It feels too weird.]

[ She peers closer at his eye, as if to show how much she cares about this "personal space" thing. ]

Did you hurt your eye?

[He turns away involuntarily as to not let her see it, frowning.]

Um...yeah. It was a long time ago, though.

[ Alice settles back into her chair. ]

What happened?

[A huff.]

It's just a childhood injury, really...me doing foolish things and all and not having much common sense at the time, that sort of thing. That's why I'm much more careful now!

[nihilo]

[ Alice makes an indifferent hum, before clasping her hand in anticipation. ]

So. What will you draw on your face?

[thehangedrose]

Oh! Um. Probably flowers. I don't think I could bring myself to draw a skull, no matter how much in the holiday tradition it is...

Dandy. [ That may have been an insult, or an off-hand comment, who really knows with Alice. ]

[thehangedrose]

[He huffs, looking almost offended by that.]

H-hey! Who are you calling a dandy?

[nihilo]

I don't see anyone else.

[thehangedrose]

But that's not nice! I'm just me, I'm not a dandy, of all things!

[nihilo]

Fine. Give me something else to call you.

Garry. Just call me Garry. That's my name.
