[After a week of being stuck here and exploring the city, Giotto decided it was time to explore the castle itself. This place was actually quite large, and if he was going to be living here then he should explore it thoroughly. It always helped to be prepared, no matter what the situation, and from he's heard, this castle liked to do things to its residents on a regular basis. If he was going to keep with his promise and foil the castle at every turn, he needed to know what he had to work with. Knowing the enemy, one could say, because it was the building itself.

So today only, you'll find him wandering the halls and in public areas casually, almost lazily, though he's really inspecting them and cementing the layout of this place into his head. Come bother him on his wonderful endeavor.]

...You could say that. And people take advantage of that fact. People with power, and not always magical. [He's trying to elaborate and yet be vague about what exactly he's been doing.]

So how does one go about fixing that?

By protecting the people who can't, of course.

There are always jerks who'll try to keep you down.

Always. But I make it a point to not let them.

There are plenty of that type around here, too.

The castle does have a way of trying to keep you down, yeah ...

The only thing we can really do is not let it.

[He laughs at that.] A positive attitude is always helpful.

Well, yeah! I would know. [being a forever resident and all]

Been here that long, yes? [He gets that feelings from her.]

It'll be six years coming up soon, actually.

...Six years? [That is an incredibly long time. He's not sure if he could survive six years without his family.]

Yeah. Most people stay a month or two, though, so don't worry!

...I'm not sure if I should be relieved or insulted by that. [Is he not good enough food, castle?]

That the castle doesn't find me good enough for its tastes. I know it's probably strange to think, but it does have quite picky tastes for one so desperate for human emotion.

[ ... she laughs]

Wow, I don't think I've ever met anyone who was offended by that.

Well, I'm not entirely sure if I should be or not. But if you wish to say that you have, by all means.

[a little chuckle ...]

It is strange, though, isn't it? Who it picks to stay, and who it lets go ...

As I said, it has rather picky tastes for a castle who relies on the people it kidnaps. Perhaps it has some sort of secret guidelines...
