Let's make the most of the night...

Penny, with the help of the ghosts, decorated the ballroom with bright neon colors (pink, orange, yellow, etc) and laid out a table full of food and a bar (also stocked with non-alcoholic drinks). She has some pop music playing and has a glass of beer in her hand, looking cute in a little black dress. She waits eagerly for her guests to arrive!

(The ghosts are to deliver an invitation to the Once-ler, that asks in super sweet terms for him to come.)

Um... Alright.

He's kind of a typical guy, you know. Or... Maybe it's different for you. But, yeah, athletic, handy, pretty dense. But his heart is always in the right place, and he really cares about people. He's a good singer, too...

He must be easy to love.

Before we were brothers, it was a little too easy.

How were you ever not brothers?

Well, he's my step-brother. My dad married his mom.

And your mother...?

[...Ah. A slight pause.]

She died.

[ Lucrezia's frown is at least sincere, as mixed with surprise as it is. She reaches to place a hand on Kurt's cheek. ]

Oh, yes, she is! She's very sweet, and she makes my dad really happy. That means a lot to me.

[ She reaches to place a hand on his cheek, so she can pinch him very gently. So cute, Kurt. ]

How wonderful.

[He laughs, but looks confused.]

[Not that he's completely unused to people being platonicly affectionate with him. He just usually has known them for a bit longer.]

[ She returns the confused look! Touching, even kissing, between strangers can be common enough. ]

If I need an excuse. Fondness, perhaps.

You'd just do that regularly, you mean? [He pauses, unsure if that's mildly creepy or kind of touching. But then... Fondness. He smiles. Even with the 'perhaps', he likes how it sounds.] Well, perhaps I'd return that fondness.

[ She quirks her head slightly to the side. ]

Have I made you uncomfortable?

Oh! No, you haven't. [He's quick to assure her even if he's not sure what the situation is.] I was just surprised! Most people are more reserved in their affections by my time.

Here I thought everything would be better in the future.

...Oh.

[That makes him feel bad; he hates to bring bad news.]

Well, some things are... A lot of things, really.

[ Lucrezia smiles. She was half-teasing! ]

Tell me about the things that are better.

Well, there are the obvious ones... Like communication! You can talk to people all around the world with basically no hassle. I think that's pretty impressive, if you actually give it thought.

Oh! I have heard of those. When one writes to produce light instead of ink?

Huh? [Does she mean like pixels on a screen...? He's not sure.] Well, yes! And sound, you can talk to someone anywhere in the world using a phone, which is... Really complicated stuff I don't totally understand.

[ WOW THAT'S EVEN MORE MINDBLOWING. ] One could hear the other's voice from a great distance?
