What: Borgia-Mills Saturnalia party, basically, that party!

The garlands and wreaths of leaves decorating the ballroom sure look similar. Almost Christmas trees. Pagan origins for an otherwise religious holiday. This occasion has no purpose, however, aside from merriment, freedom and lots and lots of eating!

The cooks Henry gathered are welcome to place their creations on a long table set to one side, while most of the ballroom is left clear for dancing of any form. Most of the sofas have been pushed against the walls as refuge for tired feet. The wine flows freely, with uncountable goblets here and there!

Oh, one more thing, beware the nutcrackers.

Henry isn't the best at dressing things up fancy, but between the ghosts and Lucrezia everything seems to have come together nicely enough. He's even managed to dress himself (with plenty of help, to be sure) in a nice sport coat and a little bow tie. He keeps fiddling with it, never quite at home in clothes nicer than a shirt and jeans, but tonight he'll deal with it, because tonight is important.

He's hovering by the door, watching for people coming in and jumping to greet them if they're familiar. This is for his friends, and he wants it to go well.

Too cute. Steph can't help but grin when she sees Henry all dressed up.

"Someone looks handsome tonight," she comments, glad she's holding a cup of something that isn't wine. Kids and all. "You excited?"

He beams at her.

"Yeah! It's good, right?" He makes a big gesture, indicating the whole room. He's genuinely proud of it. "We worked really hard on it."

[secondchances]

"It's awesome," Stephanie corrects. She's sure Henry had a lot of help, but it's still impressive that a kid wanted to take initiative and do this in the first place.

"High five?"

"Double high five."

He holds up both hands. He feels like they've earned it.

She delivers the double high five with a flourish and a grin.

"You know, this just means the next part has to top this one."

He makes a show of slumping.

"That one might have to wait a while. This one was already way more work than I thought it was going to be."

"But worth it, right? I'm definitely having a lot of fun. Are you?"

It was sort of nice, to just have a party to have a party. Sometimes it was difficult waiting for the castle to throw a party, and who knew if you'd end up shrinking or drinking weird things.

[fantasies]

"Yeah, it's a lot of fun! It was fun planning, too, just a lot of work. I dunno how adults do stuff like this all the time."

To be fair, he had a lot of help. There's only so much one kid can do on his own, after all.

[secondchances]

"I have no idea, either. If I ever learn the secret, I'll let you in on it. I hope you're not planning on sticking by the door the entire time, though. Lucrezia might get upset if she doesn't see you make an attempt at dancing."

She points to all the open space. Lucrezia's doing, she was sure.

[fantasies]

"I can dance here." He does a jig in place, to demonstrate. "See?"

He's wary of that dance floor, and all its fancy dancing.

A laugh, and then Stephanie claps her hands together in applause. His dancing is better than hers!

"Very nice," she nods, "Lucrezia might be appeased with that. How about food though, huh? All the good stuff is going to be gone if you stick around here too long."

"That's true...."

He glances back over his shoulder at the tables of food, frowning. You're probably supposed to eat at your own feast.

"Maybe if I go fast. I have to make sure everybody who I invited knows I know they're here."

That is a sight certain to make Galadriel smile. After she sets down the dish she brought which I am too lazy to decide on, she makes her way over to Henry.

"And how is our host for the evening?"

[fantasies]

"I'm great!" He bounces on the balls of his feet; he's full of energy, and can't seem to stop smiling. It's the first time he's felt that way in a long time. "Thanks a lot for helping."

"It was no trouble at all." It's good to see him like this. This place is hard on everyone, but Galadriel can't help but worry about the children here, in particular. "This was needed, I think, after all the woes we have seen as of late."

[fantasies]

"Yeah, that's what I thought. I really wanted to do something, you know?"

And there's not a lot he can do here. But it's hard to just talk through it on the journal and not do anything else.

"I do. And you have done well."

She glances out to the dance floor and then back at him. "Do you dance, Henry?"

He follows her gaze, and tugs at his collar again. It's very fancy, very practiced. He'd never had an occasion to.

"Not like that. I've never tried before."

"Would you care to try?" She won't bother him if he refuses, but it seems a shame to her that he does not know how- and she's willing to remedy that.

[fantasies]

His eyes skitter from her to the dance floor and back again. He fidgets a bit more.

"Maaaybe. Just once."

She bends down and offers her hand.

"Come, then. I will teach you as best I can."

He hesitates for a second, and then takes it warily.

"Okay. Sorry if I step on your feet. You know, in advance."

[inafadingcrown]

She chuckles lightly and leads him out to the dance floor. "I will manage."

Henry stares hard at other people on the dance floor, and tries to position his hands accordingly.

Which is basically just hanging onto her waist stiffly, because she is a tall lady.

"Like this?"
