What: Borgia-Mills Saturnalia party, basically, that party!

The garlands and wreaths of leaves decorating the ballroom sure look similar. Almost Christmas trees. Pagan origins for an otherwise religious holiday. This occasion has no purpose, however, aside from merriment, freedom and lots and lots of eating!

The cooks Henry gathered are welcome to place their creations on a long table set to one side, while most of the ballroom is left clear for dancing of any form. Most of the sofas have been pushed against the walls as refuge for tired feet. The wine flows freely, with uncountable goblets here and there!

Oh, one more thing, beware the nutcrackers.

[South's showing up fashionably late, looking around curiously to see what kind of turnout there is.]

[ But South, where's the rest of your dress?

Only Lucrezia's been around modern people enough not to comment on it, at least, nabbing a glass of wine from a nearby table before offering it to her with a hostess smile. ]

[What you mean? This is exactly the right amount of dress, in South's opinion!]

[She smiles at the sight of the wine and takes it with a nod.] Thanks! So, looking like a good turnout, yeah?

Lucrezia presides over the festivities by a couch, for lack of a throne, sitting with her handheld mask over her face. She would be Ops tonight, Saturn's sister and consort, all crowned with pearls with gold embroidered through her dress. The goddess of wealth and abundance is most fitting.

Still, she feels much more like Lua. She wants the bloodied weapons of all her enemies. But not tonight, now a sip of wine should suffice and perhaps dancing, if anyone would dare to ask.

"Come here often?"

Stephanie feels out of place with her own handheld mask and dress, even as she leans over Lucrezia's shoulder. Still, the silly smile on her face as she makes a show of hiding behind it doesn't betray her.

All is well. Totally.

Totally well. Lucrezia can pretend at least for the night, and for Stephanie.

"Not often enough." She grins and leans closer too, using her mask to cover her mouth for fear of errant eyes listening in on their conversation. "We could have them guess which is which between the two of us."

[bustered]

How no one has yet asked this lovely lady to dance is a sin. Perhaps it's somehow against the code of conduct for these sorts of things -- perhaps she's supposed to be untouchable -- but Zack had never been particularly fond of following all the rules. And he figures it's decent odds: she's not the only blonde in the room so it may not be his new acquaintance, but he doesn't mind being social with people whether he knows them or not.

He has, at least, made himself presentable for the occasion, armor and uniform traded for something more formal: a proper dress shirt (though cuffed to mid-forarm), a fitted black vest, and black dress pants. (A suit coat and tie would complete the outfit; he'd chosen not to wear them.) A fine silver chain can be just glimpsed disappearing under the shirt, and brown gloves have been traded for black for the occasion. There's no mask, just an easy smile that reaches all the way to glowing eyes.

"Surely a lovely lady doesn't plan on spending all the night so alone?"

Saturn had the first dance, as promised and as it should be, but it has been much too long since anyone else asked her for another round on the dance floor. She easily blames the mask, which she flips away to smile his way. Found her!

She wonders at the gloves, some would wear them for protection or for other nefarious intentions, but there is no one she should fear here, especially if they are not even from her Rome. She takes his hand without a thought.

"You will rectify this immediately?"

Galadriel will eventually make her way over to Lucrezia, a glass of wine in her hand and a contented smile on her face.

"It seems a shame to mask one so fair."

Lucrezia beams her way, scooting slightly over even though there is still much space on the couch. She covers her mouth from the rest of the room when she speaks. "Beauty becomes more precious when revealed in glimpses. Would you agree, Galadriel?"

Henry isn't the best at dressing things up fancy, but between the ghosts and Lucrezia everything seems to have come together nicely enough. He's even managed to dress himself (with plenty of help, to be sure) in a nice sport coat and a little bow tie. He keeps fiddling with it, never quite at home in clothes nicer than a shirt and jeans, but tonight he'll deal with it, because tonight is important.

He's hovering by the door, watching for people coming in and jumping to greet them if they're familiar. This is for his friends, and he wants it to go well.

Too cute. Steph can't help but grin when she sees Henry all dressed up.

"Someone looks handsome tonight," she comments, glad she's holding a cup of something that isn't wine. Kids and all. "You excited?"

He beams at her.

"Yeah! It's good, right?" He makes a big gesture, indicating the whole room. He's genuinely proud of it. "We worked really hard on it."

That is a sight certain to make Galadriel smile. After she sets down the dish she brought which I am too lazy to decide on, she makes her way over to Henry.

"And how is our host for the evening?"

[fantasies]

"I'm great!" He bounces on the balls of his feet; he's full of energy, and can't seem to stop smiling. It's the first time he's felt that way in a long time. "Thanks a lot for helping."

Jane shows up a little late after her earlier moping, a bit disheveled but otherwise presentable. She's got the pie that she and Henry worked on, and it actually seems to have come out okay! Thank goodness.

She'll set it down on the long food table with a sigh of relief.

Henry pops up behind her, ostensibly to peer at the pie. Mostly, though, he wants to check on her. It was a rough morning, he knows.

"Is it still okay?"

There's the host of the party! She gives you a smile before looking back at it.

"I should say so! No incidents when I walked it over or anything. We make a good team."

[bustered]

It's a party, and parties are meant for fun. And Zack's finding that he doesn't really know many people who are here (yet?). But that's never really stopped him before, and it's not stopping him now. He approaches a brunette he doesn't know with a smile.

"Hey. Interesting party, huh?"

"Hm?"

Oh wow, who's this guy with his crazy hair? Well, let it not be said that Jane is not a friendly person. She'll give you a smile.

"Well hello! It certainly is. Um, you are...?"

[is_mafia]

Giotto heard about this through the journal, but didn't respond. He only decides to show up at the last minute, dressed in his customary pinstripe suit and his cape. Maybe it will get his mind off of everything.

He's currently leaning against the wall with a wine glass, just watching the people that come in and out.

Oh, hello, there's a new face. Lucrezia sidles to stand beside him, her mask held inches over her face though he would be able to see her if he only turned.

"Are we entertained?"

[The Once-ler showed up, as he promised. And, just as he promised, he's going to a corner to hang out.

Look he says he'll come to these things, he doesn't say he'll actively interact with anyone]

[Good thing there are people to actively interact with him!!

Henry jogs toward him when he sees him, abuzz with energy.]

Hey! I'm not gonna bug you for a long time because I promised you could be in the corner if you wanted, and I know you don't really like this kinda stuff, but I'm really, really glad you came.

[... Someone may have had a few extra desserts.]

A party. Simon was in considerably higher spirits than he'd been the last time such an occasion had happened- his sister was still not here, but Wash and Zoe were, and he felt that it was nice to be able to get reacquainted with them without the awkward presence of Mal. The issue of Dr. Keller aside, he felt that things were going remarkably well, all things considered.

He took residence on one of the couches, dressed in a black suit with a dark purple vest, his grooming and presentation as impeccable as always.
