What: Borgia-Mills Saturnalia party, basically, that party!

The garlands and wreaths of leaves decorating the ballroom sure look similar. Almost Christmas trees. Pagan origins for an otherwise religious holiday. This occasion has no purpose, however, aside from merriment, freedom and lots and lots of eating!

The cooks Henry gathered are welcome to place their creations on a long table set to one side, while most of the ballroom is left clear for dancing of any form. Most of the sofas have been pushed against the walls as refuge for tired feet. The wine flows freely, with uncountable goblets here and there!

Oh, one more thing, beware the nutcrackers.

Stephanie rolls her eyes. But it's with a smile, at least.

"Please, no. This girl is fine being lover-less. No loss," she says, but she's sure this is often going to be a topic of discussion (and teasing) as long as she spends time with Renaissance people. "Way too much trouble."

That's because the Renaissance people the castle has gathered all agree that sex is good for you and the reverse is bad. How do you stand it, Steph.

"Perhaps once, when I could keep you happy for long enough, you will no longer be afraid."

"But if I'm happy long enough, I'll be way too content to bother with anyone else. There's a flaw in your plan."

It's easier to joke than turn this into a serious conversation, and Steph doesn't always leap at chances to talk about herself or whatever insecurities she may or may not have.

She steps around Lucrezia to take her hands again.

Subtext is cool, but Lucrezia won't let her slip away with well-placed jokes and tickles now. She shifts her fingers to interlace their hands, because it's better that way.

"Love for one person makes us better love the entire world."

"That's sweet," Stephanie muses, "But I already love the entire world."

Even if it was crappy and cruel and mostly unfair, there had to be some degree of absolutely crazy, obsessive, head-over-heels devotion to the world if she risked her life on a nightly basis at home.

"Nice try, though."

Lucrezia makes a face that says she doesn't quite buy that, Steph!

"Maybe someday soon, then."

"Don't hold your breath."

Said with a smile, but a small part of Stephanie feels like gritting her teeth. Bah, lovers. Probably nice and all, but... probably not worth the headache, either.

She quirks her head in defiance, smirking. "But I will." Love is worth all the headache in the world, dear crowned one!
