Lastlook - Dead Zone Arrival

Who: Lastlook Expedition Crew, feel free to tag yourself in!
What: Coming to the Dead Zone!
When: Earlier today in a time where muns do not fail
Where: Dead Zone
Rating: PG-13

[After the hold up from Wonderland and someone bedazzling some of the horses, the expedition group were finally on their way. Using the transporter from one of the outposts, making it to the Dead Zone was rather easy once they got underway. Once-ler had even been nice enough to loan his caravan for the trip- and the stables provided horses for anyone willing to take one]

[Upon reaching it or not far into it- the travelers might notice one thing as they get used to being depowered or having no technology. The frigid paradisa winter just doesn't seem to be following. It's not nearly as cold out here and the snow itself only seems to continue for awhile before tapering off- past the border it seems like the Dead Zone appears exactly during previous visits]

[Pretty weird huh? Either way, feel free to use this post to get used to the Dead Zone, notice the change in climate, whine about not being there yet- whatever]

They're fairly small craft, sailboats of a type. [Raine's suddenly regretting not bringing her Quagsire, but the weather had been all wrong for Surfing anyway. Perhaps if she'd known how nice it would be out here, she would have brought him anyway, but the large salamander-like Pokemon was in a state close to hibernation during this time of year.]

A submarine, now. I've seen reference to those. Fully underwater ships? Much like a spaceship, but designed for the ocean? [Yes, she's more familiar with spaceships than submarines. But then, she had known the Doctor.]

A sailboat, I can certainly handle. As for spaceships, I have not seen any with my own eyes, so I wouldn't be able to properly compare one to a submarine.

I've really only seen the one spaceship, but it's the same general idea, I think. To remain completely immersed in a non-native environment while sustaining life?

Yes, I suppose it is the same principle at heart, when you look at it that way. ... I would be glad to tell you of my tour of duty upon the Queequeg while we're sailing, if you wish.

[Despite a slightly seasick expression, even on land, Raine nods.]

It would be my pleasure. In my own world, we have nothing of the sort.
theabjectauthor: (I don't think I believe you.)

[he notices that expression and frowns faintly] It may serve as a serviceable distraction from the open sea, to boot... Will you be well?

If I must. I hardly expected the weather to be amenable to riding my Quagsire in the river, as we did previously.
theabjectauthor: (I feel lost in the crowd.)

I may have some dramamine here in my bag, if you would like me to check. It might make the journey easier...

Hmm. The name is familiar?

[But she's still not all that familiar with modern medicine.]
theabjectauthor: (I am knowledgeable)

It is a medicament designed to help quell the effects of motion sickness, particularly for use in travel.

Well, I suppose it couldn't hurt to try.

[Though the root of her seasickness is psychological, not physical.]
