Lastlook - Dead Zone Arrival
Who: Lastlook Expedition Crew, feel free to tag yourself in!
What: Coming to the Dead Zone!
When: Earlier today in a time where muns do not fail
Where: Dead Zone
Rating: PG-13
[After the hold up from Wonderland and someone bedazzling some of the horses, the expedition group were finally on their way. Using the transporter from one of the outposts, making it to the Dead Zone was rather easy once they got underway. Once-ler had even been nice enough to loan his caravan for the trip- and the stables provided horses for anyone willing to take one]
[Upon reaching it or not far into it- the travelers might notice one thing as they get used to being depowered or having no technology. The frigid paradisa winter just doesn't seem to be following. It's not nearly as cold out here and the snow itself only seems to continue for awhile before tapering off- past the border it seems like the Dead Zone appears exactly during previous visits]
[Pretty weird huh? Either way, feel free to use this post to get used to the Dead Zone, notice the change in climate, whine about not being there yet- whatever]

[She chuckles, tucking her own jacket into her bag]
I'll be fine. It doesn't hurt it just takes a little getting used to. I haven't even have these powers my whole life so I suppose that helps some, too.

[She stops for a moment, thinking. She's never actually thought about how her premonitions felt or how to describe that to someone. They always just WERE and if she told someone she had them they usually just accepted it at that. Not that there was anything wrong with his asking, she just wasn't expecting it.]
Most premonitions are of the future, things that haven't happened yet. Though I have gotten premonitions of the past and present before. When they happen it's like... I touch something and the energy that's been stored in that item slams into my head and I get a vision. But I always get them for a reason. It's always information that can be used to change things or to help people somehow. Like the time I got a premonition of explosions and fire a day before someone blew up the outpost. [she pauses] Sometimes it's just sight, I can see what's happening like I'm watching a movie, but sometimes it's more. Like I can smell the smoke or feel the pain of what's happening. In that regard I suppose they can be terrible sometimes. But ultimately I get them for a reason. If I have a premonition of someone getting hit by a car it means that I can get there in time to push them out of the way and that makes them something special.
[Wow she really rambled on didn't she. She smile sheepishly]
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to get carried away like that.

what if she had seen that fire? could his Beatrice have been saved? would it be her, here, in this place, instead of him? would Violet have her mother, instead of a guardian who came too late in a long line of ineffectual ones, one who's not even really needed because she's already learned to care for herself? people don't always need guardians, but they always need parents. it's part of why he came out here on this trip - to make the gap he's felt between them a little more physical. to make returning seem like a way of closing the distance. maybe she'll have missed him, by the time he gets back, and this will all be ... what? real? he's not sure.]
It's alright.
[he wrings the cloth a little in his hands]
Please, do let me know if you see any icebergs.

Her eyes crease in concern and she reaches out to gently touch his arm, giving comfort without invading his personal space TOO much]
I will.
[she pauses for a moment]
Are you alright?
