Spike had decided it was the perfect day to go wandering, and wandering he did. All over the castle, from his precious library to the snowy gardens. He had no real destination in mind, but without a list of Things To Do Today, he figured he'd better make good with the time off before Twilight pulled herself out of whatever book she was reading to give him more things to do.

He'd get bored soon, that was inevitable, but for now, he just enjoyed wandering around, seeing who he could see

[Spike carefully makes his way over, in the way one would approach something that could kill you at any second]

[ Her eyes slide over to him. ]

[Alex has been finishing up the new mural on her bedroom wall, and comes out of her door just as Spike passes. Her clothes are covered with paint streaks and splatters, and she's holding a mug of coffee.]

[She's been at this all day and, even with the coffee, is a bit sleepy. She was just heading out to get some fresh air before crashing.]

[Sugar has been exploring the castle since her arrival. The process has been slow going, seeing as she's about the size of a crayon. But that just means she can have more fun!

Today, she has discovered... the library! So many books! Pepper would love this. Flying over to one of the top shelves, she begins reading the titles when one book in particular catches her eye.]

Ooh, what is this? [Grabbing the book, she starts pulling at it. This can only go well.]

[Oh dear sweet Celestia, he can't have a fatality in the library!!! Spike yelps running forward, grabbing it carefully before she can do herself any damage with it]

Uh. Do you need some help there?

[Woah, what just happened? Sugar blinks at the helpful purple lizard before smiling.]

Huh? Oh no, I'm fine. I can do it. [No, you can't.]

It looks pretty big and heavy...[This is the sound of disbelief, Sugar]

[ In the library.... let's just say some time after all those other library threads, because they wouldn't make any sense with this one happening anywhere before or concurrently.... Twilight is staring with great irritation at a list in front of her.

Also every single book in the library is off of the shelves, stacked up on the floor around her. Every. Single. Book.

Owlowicious is flying around, hooting and occasionally dropping by the list to point out something before flying back off again.

Spike considers just...carefully walking away, but knows she'll only find him eventually. So, with a sigh, he wanders over]

Oh! Spike! Hello! [ She goes from perplexed and frustrated to happy and smiles in 0.258 seconds. ] Did you come to help me reorganize the library?

[ That question was rhetorical. How can you tell? Because she doesn't give him time to answer. ]

I was thinking to myself about how the library contains books from all sorts of different worlds. So why not sort it by what world a book is from?

It seemed like such a good idea, but then I figured that with people coming from all sorts of different times in each world, organizing each world's books by date would be even better.

I'm hitting a bit of a... snag... with the books from Earth, though.

Ray explained their calendar system, with BC and AD, which were later renamed to BCE and CE. Organizing the Earth books withing that calendar system was simple enough. But now I'm finding books published on Earth with dates listed with year systems like UC, USD, another form of CE, ATB, NC, SC, AC....

[This is why he should just stay away from the library on his days off. Seriously WILL HE NEVER LEARN. He sighs, standing back quietly and folding his arms, letting her have her little freak out about all things organisational ]

Maaaaybe we should just organise books by subject and leave the dates for everypony to just check in the little first page at the front?
