Nothing like a day at the movies

Cramped seats, popcorn dripping with butter, sticky floors and drinks that never seem to last through the whole flick. There really is nothing like going to the movies.

Word had spread through the week since Nora had issued her blanket invitation to the castle and the day had finally come for a movie marathon at the theatre. The popcorn was hot and the projector was ready. All that remained was for everyone to show up and pick a movie

Hey look it's the pie girl! Nora bounced over with a grin and a wave "Hey! I'm glad you could make it."

She could totally live with being known as the pie girl. Ashley waved and grinned in return. "Hey! Wouldn't miss it. James told me about it and I thought I'd drop by. Nice set-up you got here."

"hey thanks!" She can't help but smile. She's excited about the whole setup, but having friends there just made it even better. "Oh man did you drag him along, too?"

Ashley wasn't really expecting to make friends ever, but this is nice and the added bonus is that Nora apparently knows James. "Yep," she confirms with a nod. "He agreed to go if I agreed to go, so we're both here."

It's a Magnus thing, being able to drag James around places.

"So you know him?"

Nora laughs. Yeah that sounds like James. Hey, whatever got him out of his room!

"Yeah I've known him for almost two years, now. He's a pretty cool guy."

[panicswitched]

"Really? Wow..."

It's still strange to think of him being here for two years when she'd seen him about a month ago. But whatever. Time is a strange thing here apparently. She can roll with that.

"He's the best." From her smile and the tone of her voice, it's clear she's very fond of him. "He and Mom were always really good friends, so I kinda grew up knowing him. He'd visit us or we'd go visit him." She'd always thought of him as her father figure and a part of her had always hoped he'd be more than that someday. Ah well, a girl could wish, right?

Nora smiles, it's hard for herself to believe that she's known him that long, either. Or that they actually became friends after the way that they met. It makes her very happy that they did, though and he's definitely become one of the most important adults in her life - and that's saying a lot.

"Yeah he is. It really is great to meet someone else from his world!"

Ashley's glad that James has made friends here. He needs them.

"What, you haven't met Mom or Tesla?" That seems a little strange to her, but who is she to say anyone needs to meet Tesla?

"Yeah I talked to Tesla once but I don't know him too well. Um... I don't know if I've met your mom. What's her name?"

She's met a lot of people, it's tough to say who's who.

"He's a bit weird. I still don't know him well." And the look on her face says she's not so sure she wants to.

The topic of her mother is better, though, and her face breaks out into a proud smile. "Helen Magnus. She and James've known each other for a long time." Is that a pleased tint to her smile? And perhaps a knowing smirk regarding Helen and James? Noooot at all.

"I know his fiance better. Maladict." She pauses "It's still weird to think that they're getting married."

Her own smile widens as Ashley's does, "I think I've heard that name before. I think she's been here a couple times, though I've never met her."

"It's weird to think of him not trying to kill someone," Ashley replies with a look of distaste on her face. Granted, the second time she'd run into him, he'd been trying to stop her and that she could understand and respect. Still didn't make her feel much better about the first time she'd met him.

"I think so, too, from the sound of it. Lot of people know her." She's used to that, at least. "Maybe you should sometime. She's great and y'know, if James likes you, Mom will, too."

Nora frowns, "What, did he do that a lot where you guys are from?" She'd be worried about him being with Mal but, well, she's a vampire after all.

"Hey thanks! I should try to talk to her one of these days."

[panicswitched]

Ashley shrugs uncomfortably. "I've only met him twice and the second time was under some really extreme circumstances. I don't think Mom would have worked with him if he was much of a threat." Her feelings about him are just a touch awkward though.

"You should! Bet she'll like you since James and I do."

She nods. Well hopefully she's right. The last thing the castle needs is another psycho.

"Maybe you could introduce me sometime."

[panicswitched]

Ashley just shrugs. If it were her biological father, they'd have a problem. "Could be worse."

That makes her grin, though. "Sure! Or get James to." And maybe they could make him blush over her.
