Nothing like a day at the movies

Cramped seats, popcorn dripping with butter, sticky floors and drinks that never seem to last through the whole flick. There really is nothing like going to the movies.

Word had spread through the week since Nora had issued her blanket invitation to the castle and the day had finally come for a movie marathon at the theatre. The popcorn was hot and the projector was ready. All that remained was for everyone to show up and pick a movie

Ted was still fairly "new" and hadn't learned all there was to know. "Why would it be different?" he wondered out loud. "We're still inside the castle, aren't we?"

"I'm not sure. But it's something to wonder about." Jane really didn't know, but when one was in the castle, one could not trust it to be consistent. "The castle is tricky, after all."

"I've noticed." Still, Ted wasn't going to worry too much about it. He was hungry and the popcorn was delicious. If he ran out before the show started and he couldn't wish for more, he'd deal with it then.

Jane hums, and leaves him be for a moment, before she says, "I don't think we've met before. My name is Jane. What's yours?"

"I'm Ted Wiggins." He held out a hand, already with some salt and butter on the fingertips. "Nice to meet you, Jane."

That is totally cool. It's a movie theater, after all. She shakes your hand. "Likewise!"

"I hope it's a good movie," Ted remarked, hand diving back into the popcorn once the introductions were made.

"I do, too! But surely it won't be just one." Jane discreetly wipes her hand on her skirt and looks up at the screen. "I wonder when we'll start."

"You think we'll watch more than one?" Ted hadn't thought of that possibility. Now he understood why Jane would want to keep her snack-eating to a minimum. "How many are we watching?"

Jane shrugs. "I couldn't say. But it would be fun to watch movies with everyone all night, wouldn't it?"

"It'll be great!" Ted agreed. He glanced down at his popcorn. "I'm gonna need more snacks."

Jane laughs. "Go get some more, then! Before anything starts!"

[findatree]

"Be right back." Ted took the popcorn with him so no one else would eat any while he was gone. Hopefully he wouldn't miss anything good.

She watches you go with a good-natured smile. If anybody tried to take his seat, she would kindly inform them that the seat was taken, and, if you don't mind, could you try another row?

Ted returned with more snacks than was probably necessary. But he was a growing boy and he wanted to make sure he was well-fed during the movie. And he brought a little something for his new friend, too.

"Hope you like Red Vines."

Huh. Jane had never had Red Vines before. They look like Twizzlers, though, so she'll shrug and gladly take the offered candy.

"Thank you, Ted! I've never tried them, but they look tasty."

[findatree]

"That's what I thought!" Ted agreed as he opened his own package of Red Vines. "I bet they're really good!" He bit into one and was pleased with the taste.

Jane opens her package and pulls one out. She looks at it curiously for a moment - they really did look like big Twizzlers, it was so weird - before she takes a bite.

"Oh!" She says, and brings a hand up to cover her mouth as she chews. "That's nice!"

"I'm glad you like them!" He'd have to save some for the Once-ler. "Enjoy the movie!"

She chuckles. "You, too!"
