Nothing like a day at the movies

Who: Nora and ANYONE
What: Start of the movie theatre lock-in loss.
When: Saturday 3/16
Where: The movie theatre
Rating: Oh let's say R for language

Cramped seats, popcorn dripping with butter, sticky floors and drinks that never seem to last through the whole flick. There really is nothing like going to the movies.

Word had spread through the week since Nora had issued her blanket invitation to the castle and the day had finally come for a movie marathon at the theatre. The popcorn was hot and the projector was ready. All that remained was for everyone to show up and pick a movie

((OOC: Before the movies, during the movies, Midnight. Feel free to put up your own sections. Threadjacking encouraged!!))

Yep... it still wasn't making a lot of sense to James, and the look on his face should sort of say everything. "Oh, of course. Is that typical where you're from then?"
findatree: (Jello again how boring)

"Sure. All the real plants are gone, so we have manufactured ones instead." Ted knew now how unusual this was, but since he grew up on it, he just took it all in stride.

More than a little unusual. It sounded downright disturbing to James, even if he didn't really understand a lot of the explanation. "And you're all just fine with that?"

"If it's all you know, why wouldn't you be?" Ted shrugged. "If it weren't for the Once-ler, I wouldn't know about trees or bar-ba-loots or any of it. He taught me those things... I care a whole awful lot now."

[personal profile] staggeringego 2013-04-05 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Sound enough logic. Muggles didn't know the truth about magic and seemed content enough without it, though James couldn't imagine living life without it. "Well that's probably for the best, isn't it? ... Though on that line of thinking... what exactly is a bar-ba-loot?"
findatree: (Puttin' out the vibes)

"Some kind of animal," Ted shrugged. "I've never seen one. Here..."

He arranged his Red Vines into the shape of a bar-ba-loot. Which really look a lot like little bears. "That's a bar-ba-loot, from what the Once-ler said."

[personal profile] staggeringego 2013-04-05 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
James craned his neck to get a good look at what Ted was arranging. Well, while he hadn't had that many run ins with bears in his life, he could recognize the vague cartoony shape when he saw it. "It's some sort of bear?"
findatree: (Sneak through smog)

[personal profile] findatree 2013-04-05 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
"I guess." The only bear Ted saw so far was a polar bear, and it was way too huge to be compared with a bar-ba-loot.

"Looks like it to me." Even if Ted wasn't sure, until he was proven wrong James would just assume they were some odd type of bear with a funny name.
findatree: (Delicious and so is the milkshake)

Ted just shrugged and started eating his Red Vine bar-ba-loot. He could ask the Once-ler about it once they left the theater.

Maybe James would do just that! Or let Ted handle it, either way best not to let any more of this movie pass him by. Since he was starting to realize he hand missed large chunks of the plot already. Not that he really understood what was going on most of the time anyway.
