Fathers Day Blues

Normally if Blues wasn't in the mood to see anyone or do anything, he'd just stay in his room. Today unfortunately all the equipment he had set up in there just reminded him of a certain person.

Doctor Thomas Light, His Father. The man who had introduced Blues to the world, tried to include him in every aspect of his life. Until Blues' power core had turned to be fatally flawed. After that, he was forgotten about, replaced, left to die. Well, then he woke up here and at least for the moment, has a new lease on life.

So today Blues can be found out at the Duck Pond, skipping stones off the water to pass the time as he wastes the day away.

Chie was passing by until she heard the sound of stones hitting the water. Her attention turned to who was throwing them, and it was a familiar face. Chie shrugged and walked beside where Blues was at to check up on him.

"Hey"

Blues for the most part was in no mood to really talk. He grunted and tossed another stone.

A quiet "Hey." came after a bit of a pause.

Chie picked up a flat rock to throw as well. She threw one and watched it skip. She smiled and chuckled.

"Heh. That went farther than last time I was here. That's actually when I met you"

[whistles_the_blues]

He doesn't smile. Heck, he doesn't even turn to look at her at the moment. For now he'll just toss another stone.

"Is that so? Improvement is a good thing."

"Yeah. It definitely is" Chie threw another stone, still reaching farther than before. "Heh"

Chie looked at Blues who is obviously having a lot on his mind. But she's concerned about the guy. He may be a machine who is a bit distant emotionally, but she sees him as a person.

"Something on your mind?"

[whistles_the_blues]

He watches this time as she tosses the stone, but looks away when she asks the question.

"Nothing important." He says before he starts prepares to throw another stone, but then a couple arcs of electricity begin to spark out from his body as his core starts to act up. He tries to toss the stone, but the toss is off and it just fumbles into the water.

"Damnit Light..." He mutters under his breath as he leans to try and grab another.

Chie looked at Blues with an expression of worry. Then she gasps when sparks came out of Blues' body.

"...! Blues!" She was startled for sure, but her expression returned to sincere concern for her robot friend when he muttered something. "Light...? Is he?" She's got a good idea who it is, but she's not 100% sure.

[whistles_the_blues]

He steps back when he realizes he's startled her, waiting for everything for his power core to balance back out. The sparks continue to fly for nearly a minute before finally dying down. His jaw drops as he realizes he actually said Light's name. ...He had been doing so good at avoiding that over the past few months.

"He's no one important." He see's the concern and somewhere deep down he appreciates it, but that's one door that's not ready to open up quite yet.

And she nods and leaves the Doctor Light topic aside for now.

"Do you need someone to repair you?"

[whistles_the_blues]

"I'm fine, I don't need anyone touching my circuits." Yep, always the mature one there Blues.

He'll take the stone he already barely managed to get a hold of and just huck it across the pond. He's frustrated now.

"But..." Chie was just speechless. She knows Blues is just acting tough, there's certainly something that should be done to his circuits to make it not do what it just did.

[whistles_the_blues]

"But nothing. No one touches my core." He's firm on this one, it wasn't just him being stubborn. There was still that looming threat that if it was modified that his personality could be wiped in the process, he wasn't going to take the risk that it could happen.

"...Just forget about it."

"It's not gonna be easy to forget about that, y'know..."

[whistles_the_blues]

He huffs at that.

"Then don't. I just don't want to hear about it."

[pint_sized_carnivore]

"Fine. I won't ask anything. Could I at least keep you company for the time being?"

[whistles_the_blues]

Now that... Is something that catches him off guard. He wasn't used to it nor was he expecting it with how he was acting at the moment.

"...If you want, I wont stop you."

The corner of Chie's lip lifted at that. She sat down on the grass and motioned Blues to do the same. She thought they disturbed the water enough to continue throwing rocks at it.

There's a delay, but he eventually moves over to join her. He doesn't sit down though, he'd rather stand for now.

"Come on, sit down. You look like a weirdo standing up next to me like that"

[whistles_the_blues]

"I'll do what I feel like." ...Yeah, he's a weirdo.

"Ah... Eheh... Oookay..." Chie just looks away, feeling awkward.

A little bit passes and eventually he does actually sit down.

Chie loudly sighed with relief, as if a huge weight on her shoulder was lifted. That was an awkward few minutes it feels like.

Awkward moments is kind of what he's best at. He doesn't say anything at the moment. He wanted to be alone, he was used to being alone in situations like this. He had no idea what to say to someone else.
