Tonight, in the sky, there are fireworks.

You can see them from the hotel window, but for a better look -- so suggests the helpful concierge at the desk -- you'll want to head to Sumida, where locals and tourists alike gather on the edge of the Sumida River.

Well, sometimes it happens, but not by choice.

Nah... this one time it got, like, burned off. There was a fire.

[Why else would it get burned off?]

Then this other time I had to put it on a shark to make this guy think the shark was me... which, uh, sounds kinda dumb when I say it out loud. Never mind.

[ She's too much of a lady to laugh out loud... but maybe not. At least she tries to cover her mouth with her hand. ]

Was the shark as handsome as you?

Well, you know. He had better teeth.

But his nose has none of your grace, surely.

[samson]

[Pfffft, okay, he laughs again.] My nose?

[heloise]

[ She turns to inspect the object in question. ]

Indeed. Your most elegant and graceful nose.

[samson]

[He touches it experimentally.]

Never had anybody call it 'graceful' before.

How did others call it?

Pfft... big? 'Beaky,' too.

[lucre]

[ She laughs. Sorry, not sorry. ]

Like an eagle's?

[samson]

[It's okay, he only looks... a little bit annoyed.]

Well, Mol does call me 'falcon,' so...

A term of endearment, surely. Falcons are gracious creatures.

[samson]

Yeah, it's like a pet name. I always thought it had more to do with being badass than, uh, gracious, but...

[Falcons are badass. That's the point he's making.]

They are fond of hunting the pigeons.

[samson]

Pigeons pretty much just hang out in cities in my time, so I don't know if they even get a chance to anymore.
