Who: Terry Sheridan and Conan Edogawa
What: Terry-stalking.
When: Day 2 of the plot
Where: Shinjuku
Rating: Certificate 15
He knew it was a long-shot...
Terry had contacts here in Tokyo. They mostly hung around the more seedier areas of the city, understandably. The type of people who were in to hire a guy like Terry Sheridan normally were up to no good.
Unfortunately, Terry is out of his time, as well as his world, as he wanders the familiar streets, pausing to look up at a building that once held a meeting place, or a bar where contacts liked to drink. Nothing familiar was here.
Occasionally, he'd glance around, just to make sure that some local Yakuza enforcer, or gang leader didn't want to make an example of the foreigner on their patch. He's aware it makes him look shifty as hell, but he'd rather be shifty and alive...

He'd taken to wandering the different areas of Tokyo and cataloging all the differences. Even here in Shinjuku he could point out several buildings that didn't match what he remembered.
And as he wandered around Shinjuku, he had spotted someone who he was almost sure he'd seen around the castle.
What was he doing here? Conan only allows himself to debate for a second before he change course and starts to follow him.
If nothing else, it was good to keep up his skills in following people.]

It's the splashing in the puddles of an alleyway that tipped him off.
Terry continues walking, somewhat aimlessly, for the next five minutes to see if they're actually following him, before ducking around a corner and crouching. Waiting.
If they were some innocent bystander, they wouldn't follow him into a dead end, right?]
no subject
No, instead of following him into the alley, Conan presses himself against the side of the building, just far enough around the corner not to be seen. Then he slowly angles the reflective surface of his watch around the corner. With luck he would be able to see what was happening without being noticed.]
no subject
He counts down from three, before darting around the corner...
And pausing.]
...the fuck?
[Because a kid is something he didn't expect.]
no subject
There was no way to deny what he had obviously been up to.
All the same he makes an effort to bluff his way out by pasting an expression of complete cluelessness on his face.]
It isn't good to say things like that in front of kids, you know.
no subject
Nope. No way to deny it. At all.]
And didn't mummy and daddy tell you it was rude to stalk people?
no subject
no subject
Kids who play detective don't creep around like professionals.
no subject
[This could be bad. This guy wasn't dismissing him.]
no subject
[Nope. Not dismissing.]
I've seen kids used before. What do you want?
no subject
[Conan was trying to figure out the best way to get away from this guy without raising any suspicion.]
no subject
[And all levity in the man's tone, the half smile on his lips... that's gone.]
Or I'll drop it for you
no subject
He didn't know who this person was, but he was becoming more suspicious with every moment.
If things stayed like this, it could become dangerous. He needed a game changer. He needed to change the situation.
And so Conan grins at the man innocently.]
That's a mean thing to say to a kid, isn't it?
[And in one smooth motion he flips his skateboard onto the ground and moves to slam his foot down hard on the ignition button.]
no subject
Not so fast, laddie.
[His drawl is a bit lazy.]
Now, I don't want to hurt you, but I'm not too good with moving targets, so I really wouldn't think about running.
no subject
But he was wary when one was pointed at them. Especially when he didn't know the person well enough to predict their actions. And this guy? Was one big mystery.]
What do you want?
no subject
[Terry keeps his weapon, a standard handgun, levelled at Conan. His shoulder, to be precise. A wounding shot.]
...And who hired you.
no subject
And who would hire a kid for anything?
[Conan had dropped his childish mannerisms in favor of a serious glare and adult-like posture.]
no subject
[And Terry's known it to happen.]
This curiosity... it's going to get you killed. Some folks don't hesitate to shoot tails, kids or not.
no subject
But the child he pretended to be wouldn't know that.]
Shouldn't you be more concerned that one of the people out there will see this?
[He jerks his head at the busy street behind them. And ignores the comment about his curiosity.]
no subject
Not really. We're shaded enough. And you seem pretty switched on, you're not going to make a fuss.
Are you?

[He's very convincing.]
I think you've been out in the sun a wee bit much.

Must have one of those faces. Not been to a castle in a few months.

Are you going to put the gun down?
