What: A newcomer explores the castle. What is going on? What is happen? What is this place evena all about? Why are there no walls? you know. Big ones.
When: The morning of September 6.
Where: Cair Paradisa.

So this was a new world.

As impossible as it was, it was a relief. From what she initially discovered about Paradisa, it knew nothing of the taint of the titans... and humans, although still small in number, were thriving and free. It was leagues better than back home, where certain repercussions awaited her. Not that she was one to stray from reaping what she sowed, she couldn't help but refuse to accept punishment for something in which she couldn't remember her reasoning.

It was annoying, to say the least. But really, what did it matter? She was stuck here now, and here she would stay.

And so, she'd explore. She would get a feel for this so-called kingless castle, something completely separate from the fucked up political and miltaristic system she had seemingly left behind.

Not that this place was much less a prison...

Annie isn't the only one exploring the castle right now. Ellie was dragged to Paradisa close to a month ago now, and she still felt somewhat lost. She still hasn't quite been able to settle into life here and it will likely be a bit more time until she could, so until then... she wandered.

She was on her way back from the library this time, whistling softly to herself as she examined the latest book she had pulled out from it, but paused when she looked up and noticed Annie.

"... Damn. You look like shit."

Blunt and to the point. Typical Ellie.

She couldn't help but look at this girl, stopping in her steps as she sized up the situation. She didn't particularly mind people who were outspoken (goodness knows her fellow graduates exemplified those qualities more often than not) and those who spoke the truth (she knew she was worse for wear), though at the same time, she knew that there was not much else she could really do about said condition.

"I just got here."

Well, that certainly explains it. Ellie cringes, and a look of sympathy crosses her face.

"Harsh. I know how that feels, though. I'm still pretty new here myself."

Most people wouldn't consider a month as being still "pretty new", but compared to some of the others she's talked to, who have mentioned being around for years... that, added to her hard time settling in, means that yeah, she still feels new.

"Has anyone else filled you in on the weird shit going on?"

"You mean aside from the fact that is is somehow supposed to be a completely different world from my own?" Annie moved some of her hair from her eyes, a bit more intent on being conversational if she was about to get more information about this place. "Some details."

"Yeah, that's the big bombshell that needed to be dropped. Sounds like you're handling it well." she wasn't lying when she said the other girl didn't look too good, but damn... Ellie sure wished she'd been able to keep her cool like she seemed to be now.

"Did they tell you about the weird magic? 'Cause I'm pretty sure that's gunna blow a lot of people's minds."

"I'm not from a place that leaves much optimism for a world other than ours," she explained with a listless shrug. "It's a strange concept, but insofar it's a vast improvement on what I've left behind."

She shifts her weight in the slightest, before pushing herself against the wall, almost relaxing against it. "I'm not quite familiar with the concept of 'magic' either, but from what I understand, it's clearly making the impossible happen."

... Huh.

"Sounds kind of like you're saying your world is total shit, if this place is a big improvement," Damn. Well, that..... certainly sounds familiar. "I guess that means we have something in common. Mine was like that too."

Ellie really seems to have some interesting luck in running into those types, doesn't she?

"And yeah, that's... pretty much it. I guess the magic is how we all get dragged here. You can also use it to wish for whatever you want, and it'll just show up."

"Indeed." She looking away now, not sure what else to tell her. What point was there to spill her guts without being asked outright about her world. It was shit, wasn't it? Pointless, stupid...

"Admittedly, I'm not sure what to wish for," she responded. "I've been around long enough to live on so little..."

"I get what you mean. Living off rations all my life, you'd think I'd totally take advantage of this place and order whatever kind of food I want..." Oh sure, she's ordered things she's never tried before, and Joel and Tess have both introduced her to a few great pre-apocalypse foods... but even so. "But now... I dunno. Having whatever I want be just a wish away seems a lot stranger than all this magic shit."

"It's all strange to me. Everything about this place is impossible." She keeps her head down and her back against the wall, empathizing with the other... but of course, her expression would hide such a thing.

"So much for thinking that wishes mean nothing."

"Tell me about it. I thought the same thing, when I first woke up here..." Easy access to food, hot running water, clean clothes and beds... it was like an impossible dream.

"It's even weirder when you run into people who have no idea what kind of shit your world has gone through. Stuff you've been dealing with all your life... suddenly, most people have no clue what the hell you're talking about."

Annie nodded, maybe even allowed the corner of her lip to curl in the very slightest. "I don't think many people would enjoy the world I'm from," She bit her lip, wondering whether or not she should extrapolate before the person before her asked. "No one does to begin with."

"... What was it like?"

The way this girl talked, the brief mentions of her own home, her body language... it had all piqued Ellie's curiosity, and she can't help but try to prod when things start to take that turn.

"My world was total shit too. I bet I could understand."
