And the words are all escaping
Who: Cass and YOU
What: Patrolling to make sure people don't do stupid things
When: Tuesday
Where: The city, the castle some too
Rating: A for ANNOYED
[She hates this from the second it starts. The journal explodes with things she can't read and she's locked in silence, no words come out when she tries to talk.
She spent seventeen years unable to speak and now having that thrust back onto her is maddening. In the past year she'd gotten herself to a broken kind of speech, she still mixed up words and struggled to get her meanings across, but at least it was something.
Now the nothing is deafening and she doesn't know how to make things go back to normal. What she does know is that when people get scared, they get stupid. They get violent because they don't know any better, but what is a superhero for if not to protect them, even if it's from themselves?]
[The City]
[During the daytime she moves among the people of the city like one of them, dressed in civilian clothes so she won't cause more panic, more worry. She makes rounds, reading the body language of everyone she sees for any signs of fear turning to anger and then violence. When she can, she distracts them with misdirection, separates them from the things causing them to become upset.
Other times, she shoves people into fountains to make them cool down when she sees they're about to attack some stranger for no reason. Whatever works.
When night falls, she patrols the rooftops in her Batsuit and is not quite as polite when she has to break up fights. If it calls for it, she won't be shy about breaking fingers or arms, knocking people out completely. A little violence to save lives is worth it and anyway, better a broken bone than anyone getting themselves killed.]
[The Castle]
[She spends less time in the castle because she trusts these people to police themselves, to keep calm in the face of whatever it is going on here. They've seen weird stuff before, they should know how to cope without causing problems. She also trusts them to not freak out over Batgirl roaming the halls and surveying the more active parts of the castle from a perch high above them.
Because that's not weird at all, right? Right.]

It probably wouldn't be safe in town for long. The townsfolk probably could feel it too.
Which is why bouncing the last drunk of the night was proving a bit more difficult than normal. Especially without the ability to speak. Mouthing 'GO HOME' only did so much to a scared belligerent drunk.]

He turns like he's going to fight back, but when Cass takes a step toward him he puts his hands up and backs away. Good. Satisfied that he won't be coming back, she turns her attention Gren and tilts her head to the side, taking on a questioning kind of posture.
Are you okay? Is there anyone else she can scare off for you?]

He starts to nod at her, but any other gesture he might have made next turns into an urgent pointing behind her, as one of the drunks buddies staggered up and went to take a swing at her]

Cass sighs, wishing people could handle themselves better than this. But Gren looks like he's doing okay, not freaking out or trying to attack, thankful for her help instead of shrugging her off just because she was a girl. It's a nice change, really.]

Gren steps past her to check on the guy - a cursory examination to make sure nothing was grievously broken. It was a hard bump, but he'd be fine in a few minutes. He gave the girl a brows-raised and mouth wryly twisted expression that more or less meant 'NOT BAD', and offered her his hand]
