It helped a lot when Legolas' own father was king and he spent a great deal of time respecting him as king rather than a father. They had time where they could act as father and son but otherwise, he behaved respectfully.

"I was raised properly, to respect those who hold a station of importance." He had no idea how matters of royal lineage were handled in his world but he knew that, in Middle Earth, mortal races groomed the sons and daughters of kings to inherit the throne.

"Loki then. I would be glad to tell you anything that you would like."
