Alcohol, taken in sufficient quantities
Who: Felix Harrowgate and anyone
What: A new years party
When: January 1st
Where: Chimera headquarters
Rating: Pg-13 for heavy drinking, at least
The central hall of Chimera headquarters is today taken up with a pair of tables, one covered with all matter of foods from finger sandwiches and deviled eggs, to salted nuts and chocolate-covered fruits, while the other is littered with nearly every beverage one might think of - tea, coffee, milk, punch, and fruit juices. It wasn't quite the expected spread for a new year's party, but that was because the castle had done them the favor of making any liquid carry the effects of the usual party beverages. A small table near the door, however, had at some point in the day appeared, carrying liquors and champagne for those who actually preferred their alcohol to taste as such. The ghosts stood sentry to keep whatever it was the attendees wanted flowing.
Most of that is likely forgotten near the end of the day, and the arrangement of comfortable chairs in the adjoining office begin to look far more comfortable a place to sit once the room starts to spin a little. Getting air on the balcony is an option, of course, but take care not to fall off of it.
((OOC:Feel free to set your tag at any time during the evening (though really, you know we're all here for the drunk shenanigans). Please see the link above for info on the layout of the area.))

Later, he might think to himself it had been odd for Felix to allow him to display such affection in public. It was not that public displays had not happened between them, but they were not these soft things, these tender things reserved for their room.
Ashura looked down at him through dark lashes, and if one looked closely now, one might see that his eyes were lightly rimmed with gold too. Fingers flowed from his hair and down along his jaw, caressing. "Surely you know?" he inquired. "There has always been but one position for you."

"Tell me anyway," he replied, his tone playing at the pretense of indifference but he was far too drunk to maintain his usual mask, and his eyes, wide and pleading, betrayed his uncertainty and need for reassurance.

The king looked down, down into those eyes, and a part of him broke seeing that. He had tried to focus on any other emotion that his love for Felix in the past months, though that in itself was nearly impossible. Even behind grief and anger, he yearned for Felix though he could not say as to way. Love worked strangely. After all, he had fallen for Yasha, had he not?
His fingers stopped stroking, moved to cup his jaw now, golden eyes meeting blue and green. For that moment, they were alone in that room, on that chair. There was no party, there was only Felix as he bent down, his hair falling forward, a natural shield as he touched their foreheads.
"Your position has always been foremost in my heart, Felix," he whispered. "Nothing has changed that."

He swallowed, uncertain but deeply relieved nonetheless, and tilted his face to kiss the king.

There was no hesitation as he kissed him back, cupping his cheek. His tongue flickered across his lips, pushing into his mouth to deepen it. Usually he was not one for such public affection, keeping to pecks on the cheek or lips, but... but this was Felix. For all he knew, this might be his last time to kiss him, his last time to tell him...
So he kissed him, glad his hair provided them cover.

"Apologies."
And he promptly slid off the arm of the chair and into Felix's lap. It put him more even with Felix's mouth, leaning in to claim it once more, not wanting to stop it, give it up, afraid that if he did he would not experience it again for a long, long time. And he could not bear that, not yet.

Still, he felt self-conscious enough to pull back and eventually mutter, "that's better. But maybe not the place for this, hm?"

Oh, those touches. He craved them, needed them, touches he had dreamt about and needing since his heart had been broken. He rested his forehead against Felix's, their noses brushing as he shifted the cant of his head, fingers toying with his shoulders and the locks of hair that fell across them. He knew what the other meant by his question, but he was intoxicated enough that he did not immediately move or feel bad for this breach in decorum and party manners.
"Should we go to a place then?" he asked him instead, touching his jaw.

Still, a tiny hateful voice made itself known. "Would you like to invite a friend?"

Ashura drew back some, his brows slightly furrowed. He knew exactly what Felix was referring to, and it stung more than he thought it should have. He would not feel guilty! He and Thorin had a wonderful time, and Ashura was not attached to Felix! He wanted to be, but at the time, well..
"Do you want to invite him? I know you're curious."
The words had a bit more bite to them than he had meant them to have, but he was in no mood for emotional games, especially not when he had just told Felix he would still give him his heart.

"He is always grumpy," Ashura mused, leaning back into Felix, wrapping his arms around him and pressing his face into his neck. "You wouldn't like him."
It was a terribly thing try at hiding his jealousy and his possessiveness, not wanting to share Felix, to risk that he would fall away from him again in favor of someone else. To be honest, he thought he could convince Thorin to share the bed, but he wasn't really all that sure.
