He Like It, So He Put a Ring On It
Who: Vanyel, Tylendel, Yfandes + the rest of the Castle (aka, whomever wants to show up)
What: Vanyel and Tylendel's wedding
When: May 3, afternoon to evening
Where: The Castle Gardens
Rating: PG (unless the residents up the anit)
It was a glorious day to host a wedding. It was warm without being hot, not a cloud in the sky, and everything seemed to be cooperating and going the way it should. The grooms were dressed in their finest, Yfandes brushed to a sparkling sheen. Flowers had been arranged over a small arch, scenting the air with the smells of jasmine and bright honeysuckle. Behind the grooms was a small pedestal with a shallow bowl filled with a bit of oil, and before it a small cushion that kept two rings quite safe. Benches had been placed out along the lawn for people to sit on with cushions laid across them for comfort, politely arranged so that the trees of the garden case some shade upon them. Other than these small things, there was no great fanfare to the whole thing, but best not to take away from the grooms. It was an open sort of affair, a celebration to be shared with any who wished to share it.
Not that the grooms would necessarily notice right away as they had eyes for no one but each other, did they? But they weren't much meant to, on this sort of day, at this sort of moment. If they had, well, they might need to be rethinking all of this marriage business. But they didn't need to, certainly not Vanyel.
This was everything he had ever wanted, and he was going to grasp it tight with both hands. He could only hope that everyone else that came, be it for this moment or the celebration after, would rejoice in it as much as he did.

THE VOWS

"Are you ready?" his voice was warm as he shed his cape to reveal the vest of gold underneath, "I am the luckiest man in the world." a cliche thought, perhaps, but it was how he felt. He couldn't stop himself from beaming.
Also, should we put up a "honeymoon" log? ;)
Vanyel had opted to wear just his formal Herald Whites to the ceremony, but even those were dashing on him. Not as dashing as Tylendel's attire though, and it took his breath away to his see the other dressed so.
"I have been ready," he whispered, taking his hands and stroking them. The ring he had prepared for Tylendel was an equally simple gold band, though a diamond was set in its center. Along the band was delicately carved patterns of horseshoes entwined with the bars of a music sheet.
Laughter left him at that pronouncement and he leaned his head in, touching their foreheads, beaming at him. "I think we are both the luckiest in the world," he murmured.
Well of course!
"Me too." he murmured, curling his fingers around Vanyel's hands. He then raised one of those graceful hands to kiss, his head bowed.
"It's time." his eyes were bright with passionate emotions, but he kept them under control. As the ceremony began, he kept hold of his Ashke, finding it unnatural to part with him at such a time. Finally, the time arrived for him to say his vows...
"Van, you know what we have endured; you know the trials that have been placed in our path. Thanks to your love and patience, they no longer hold any pain for me. I sincerely hope you feel the same, Ashke." he paused and smiled softly, peering into Vanyel's eyes, "I know that if we stay together, we can overcome any and all obstacles put in our path. With that in mind..." he flushed and cleared his throat, placing one of Vanyel's hands over his heart, "Today, as I give myself to you, my mind is clear and my commitment is strong and without reservation. I take you to be my life's partner; my Ashke. I will never leave you nor forsake you; I will spend all my days at your side. We will share a lifetime of eternal, immeasurable love."
THE WEDDING FEAST
Long tables had been set up to one side, piled with food. Not quite so much as at the May Day the Queen had put up a few days ago, but enough to entice anyone even if they had a full stomach already. Meats both warm and cold started at one end of the table, working into the grooms' favorite fruits, nuts, and of course the sweets. Small cakes and sugared nuts and candied fruits and many more in between. Wine, fruit juice, beer, water, and tea were made available at the far end, but no doubt the one cake everyone wished to see the most was kept well out of the way until the proper time.
Hope everyone saves some room!

After the ceremony, he joined the guests at table, though he ate slowly so that he could partake of everything.

"Simon, you came," he beamed at the other medic, giving him a warm hug. Normally he might not, but he was so full of joyous feeling this day it was about all he could do. Hug and smile and glow.

"I would not miss it for the world, my friend," he replied. "And you were lucky to have a beautiful day for it besides."

"I can say that I am enjoying myself so far," he said emphatically. "And I am looking forward to meeting Tylendel when I can- I don't think he and I have ever spoken, now that I think about it."
no subject
"No? Odd, he is quite personable. Well, you shall meet him soon. He's saying hello," he laughed, looking over to where his new husband was smiling and laughing with another small group. "I shall call him over soon. You will adore him. He is a wonderful singer."
He paused and then flushed darker, laughing.
"I am sorry, I am gushing, aren't I? Or is that acceptable today?"

"May I offer a toast?"
no subject
"Of course. We would be honored, Felix."

This was the shining light at the end of a long, painful tunnel. Both of them bore scars of the struggle toward happiness.

He cleared his throat. "Very few people are quite so lucky to meet someone they know with absolute certainty is the one they are meant for, and even then it does not guarantee we will have the opportunity to be with them. Sometimes there are things that get in the way. The strictures of society, the call of a duty, or simply blind fate. If there is one thing that Paradisa affords us is the opportunity to bypass those burdens and seize your opportunity to be happy, if only for a short time..." he said, pausing as he wondered if the clock was now counting down for the two of them or if they would beat the odds. Would it make him feel more certain of where his own happiness lay if they did?
He raised his glass higher, smiling a blinding smile that he did not entirely feel as he continued, "To Vanyel and Tylendel, and your continued bliss."

"Thank you, Felix. It heartens us to know our friends support us."

All of his awkward is due to not remembering how or what to do during these. So, awkwardly collecting food and trying not to be terribly visibly awkward. He likes the two of them, this is occasion ought to be a happy one, he wants to avoid looking uncomfortable.
no subject
"Is there something you like in particular, Duke? I can get a plate made for you."
no subject
Duke tilts his head up toward Vanyel, blinking once. "...You do not..." Need to do that for him. He can pick through things and remember where what he likes is. "... I generally like all fruits..." He shifts awkwardly. "... I will get myself tea."
no subject
Yes. Let us know. That was a nice way to phrase things.
no subject
"Wished to congratulate, even if not accustomed to celebrations." He likes you both, okay. But he's blinking blankly in Tylendel's direction for a moment.
"... You think alike."
no subject
"Thank you." he took a seat beside him and tilted his head, expression warm, "That doesn't surprise me. We want to see to the happiness of those who celebrate with us. You won't find us taking anything for granted."
Or anyone for that matter.
no subject
"And feeding generally works toward contentment, at least." Because it is a little hard to be happy when your stomach was growling.
".... Because of location, or past?"
THE DANCE

He gathered his lover - no, husband - close and attempted to steal a kiss. There were small tears in his eyes; tears of joy and of a past healed. He couldn't thank Vanyel enough. This was his greatest wish fulfilled.
"Thank you, Ashke." he tipped his head back to kiss Vanyel's forehead tenderly.
no subject
It would be a successful attempt at thievery, or maybe not since the kiss was freely given. They had no reason to hide, and it was their wedding day. Kissing would be assumed a natural part of the celebrations. His cheeks warmed and his eyes brightened, kissing Tylendel's curls in turn.
"Do not thank me. There is nothing to thank me for. I only did what was natural," he assured him.
no subject
"Natural, huh? Some would argue with you on that." not that he cared a jot, "This is natural for us. I've never been so happy."
THE FIREWORKS
Against the darkened sky, boom and flashes of light! A white mare galloping across the stars, leaving her own trail of them behind. Phoenixes swirling in courtship dances bursting red. Dragons twining and twisting. All sorts of shapes and beasts twisted and danced through the sky, courtesy of Clow Reed.
Are you not entertained?
