Search Party Log
Who: Whichever idiots want to go out into the woods and figure out what killed April
What: Search Party!
When: Thursday
Where: The Lobby/The Grounds/The Forest
Rating: PG-13 otherwise tag your threads
She wouldn't normally care, but with the castle shifting to resemble anything remotely like her world, Meg was on edge. When she found April - or what was left of her - decorating the castle halls, that concern switched to full blown alert mode. The demon spent the night and half the morning poking around the castle, looking for whatever had done it on her own to no avail. By noon, she had circled back around to the lobby and stood there glaring at the pile of weapons, wondering what the hell the catch was.
Finally, she cracked open her journal. By now, more people surely would have seen the carnage.
"All right," she sighed heavily. "Anyone wants to go out and find what did it, meet me in the lobby."

He'd seen enough violence and he was about to contribute to it. If anything he expects he'll be the voice of reason when they find whatever it is they are looking for.]

Noticing the Doctor, she gives him a slight nod.]

Still, he knows that she's a skilled wizard and that where she comes from she's dealt with this type of thing before. Maybe not quite the same but close enough. He just vows to keep an extra eye on her.
And her bow. He nods towards it. ]
You know how to use that?
no subject
Her grip on the bow shifts a little when he comments on it.]
Yeah. I've been training.
no subject
And how's that coming along?

[ He's not fully sure what she fights back in her home world, somehow though he doesn't have the opinion that it's flesh and blood. He's not fully sure that even makes a difference. ]

[She's not terribly proud of having done so, but that was also a case where there wasn't much choice in the matter. The Collectors would have grabbed her if given the chance. She gave them the standard warning, that she was on wizard's business and any action against her would negatively impact them, but they ignored it. Had they listened or bothered talking at all she would have reasoned with them.]
no subject
Hopefully it won't come to that today.

[She isn't making any promised though. That would be testing her luck, and wizards generally avoid making promises they might not be able to keep.]

Which is why the Doctor stands next to his elder and unsurprisingly - is thinking the exact same thing. Five is unarmed, having passed the trunk in the lobby with naught but a tight lipped scowl. The Doctor's greatest weapon was his wits. ]
We're possibly going to have to split up. It's not just about looking for the thing that caused April's murder. It's watching our friends as well.
no subject
He nods as he looks of the group forming.]
Yes. That does sound like a wise choice. Any idea what we might be up against?
no subject
Just the... No. Possibly large, possibly fast. For it to go unseen in the castle and for what it did, speed has to be an ability. An animal, some type of beast perhaps. It can't have much in the way of thought going by what it did.
no subject
And quiet. No one seems to have heard a thing. Large, fast and quiet. It's not going to be easy to corner. Lack of thought means it's even less likely we are going to be able to reason with it.
[ He looks to his younger self, concerned. ]
Are you going to be alright if it comes to what we would rather avoid?
no subject
You've never asked, have you? Where in our time stream I came here from.
[ It crosses his mind that his elder might not recall it if he told him, so harsh is his loss. It then also crosses his mind that maybe the elder is right to look at him like that, for he failed to execute Davros as promised. ]
Just because we'd rather not doesn't mean it is sometimes necessary. I'll do what needs to be done. Are you going to be all right?
no subject
There's no point. I remember being you. Cricket, the celery, white circles in the TARDIS, our companions... But what I did as you... What adventures we had, where we went, the trouble we caused and the things we fixed...
[ He trails off. The younger is aware of his loss. Perhaps not the depth of it, although he likely understands more now.
He nods a single time in understanding and agreement. Then there's a grin that clearly is a mask, hiding what they don't have time to discuss or get into. ]
Of course! Why wouldn't I be?
[ It's a rhetorical question younger self, please respect your elder and don't answer it. ]

Crawling backward as fast as he can, he tries to reason with it. ]
Hello. You don't have to do this. We can talk about this. What exactly are you anyway?

[ The Doctor tries to crab walk backwards away from the creature. But he's not fast enough. The claws slice through his jacket and shirt easily, raking across his chest, slicing skin and eliciting a howl of pain from him. ]
Now wait. Wait just a minute.
[ He holds a hand up to the Wendigo, hoping to hold it off or at least slow it down. ]
I can help you. Just wait. Really, you don't have to go through with this.
no subject
Is this food serious? The monster laughs again as it lunges to bite that hand. At the same time, it makes another slash in his chest, this time aiming to go deeper. The Wendigo isn't big on dinner conversation, but this is actually... somewhat entertaining...]
no subject
Just tell me what...
[ That noise didn't sound encouraging, and with his hand still out he tries to back further away. Suddenly there's great pain in his right wrist and deeper into his chest. The Doctor is stunned. ]
You took my hand! I was trying to help and you took my hand. I can't just grow another one!

It's in that moment of stunned disbelief, or perhaps shock, that he realizes he's in deep trouble. He tries to get away. To back up but with only one hand he's not moving fast or far. Worse, he can hear others in the woods around him. Before it's too late he yells for them to get away before the Wendigo bites again and all he can do is scream. ]
