[ Had it been anyone else but her mother explaining where they were and what to expect here, Arya would not have believed them. The concept was hard to understand much less swallow. But if there is someone in the world she still trusts wholeheartedly it is her mother. She would not lie to Arya. Not about something like this.

Thus after she found a moment to wander away from Catelyn, she decided to explore the castle, Needle at her side. If she was to be here for a while, she needs to know what can be found. She had always enjoyed discovering new places, talking to new people. Maybe a day to tire herself out was all she needed to sleep through the night again. ]

Our horses aren't chattel! We take care of them!

They are bought and sold like objects and killed when they are deemed too old for useful work. That is the very definition of 'chattel.'

Why do you have a horn?

[doublethefun]

[hmm. She examines the child for a moment. Well. She's hardly one for frivolous grudges.

An elegant wing-shrug, and she answers the question in a friendlier manner:]

Unicorns channel their magic through their horns.

You have magic?

Yes. There are many other magical pon - people here in Paradisa.

What can you do?

One of the most prevalent spells amongst unicorns is levitation.

[hello convenient nearby stick. It gets surrounded with blue glowy magic and raises a couple of feet into the air.] 'Tis a simple spell, once mastered. Of course, the larger or heavier the object is, the more difficult it is to lift.

[persequor]

[ She smiles, eyes widening in glee. ]

Unicorns. So there's a lot of you here then?

There are two other unicorns here, and one Pegasus pony.

[persequor]

What's the difference?

[doublethefun]

Unicorns have horns, whereas Pegasi have wings.

I, on the other hoof, am something of an anomaly. The most common term for one such as me is "alicorn," 'though "winged unicorn" is also used.

[persequor]

And you all have magic?

[doublethefun]

Yes. While unicorns have the most obvious sort of magic, Pegasi have inherent abilities that allow them to live on their cloud homes and control the weather.

[persequor]

[ She can accept the magic and the wings. But— ]

Horses control the weather?

[doublethefun]

In my world, we do. From what I have seen here, no other resident has such a thing in their worlds.

Of course, the weather patrol typically operate within the confines of a town or city.

[persequor]

So what happens with the weather in the woods and fields and such? Who controls it there?

[doublethefun]

Weather is not confined to whatever township lines we may draw. What we do in a town affects the surrounding area as well. If anything goes awry out there, then the town's Pegasi will have to correct it.

The only exception is the Ever Free Forest. Nopony has lived there in a long, long time. As such, the weather is 'wild,' so to speak.

[persequor]

You're...an adult, right?

[she's probably not quite full grown, but hay, being a gazillion years old has to count for something]

Yes. How many years dost thou have? [still trying to figure out human ages]

Twelve. But you talk about ponies. Ponies are baby horses not adults.
