[ Wearing modern clothing for once (sweatpants and a T-shirt that aren't his), Gwaine bounces a small, pink ball against the wall. Whenever it strikes something—wall, ground or his hand—lights arc inside it. A curious little toy, but Gwaine barely looks at it. He sits on the middle step, eyes unfocused. To any observer, his mind appears to be elsewhere. He has managed to recover a semblance of healthy coloring, but the bags under his eyes mark how fitful his sleep remains. He finds it difficult to concentrate on even simple tasks. Thus he misses his next catch and the ball bounces against the door behind him. It rolls away from him. ]

[ She hesitates, her original purposes for coming out long since lost after she found him. ]

The fresh air.

[impetuous]

All this way? Air is fresher over here.

[scinlae]

Indeed. [ Shut up Gwaine. Shut. Up. ]

[impetuous]

[ Teasing: ] Did you want to sit to enjoy this cleansing air or do you prefer to remain standing?

[scinlae]

[ To sit with him or to continue standing, what a terrible decision. She decides after a moment, despite her better judgement, to brush past him and seat herself down. ]

[impetuous]

[ He's smirking slightly as he sits down next to her. ]

Air's even better down here I've found.

[scinlae]

You can stop it now, Gwaine. [ Seriously, or she is going to smack you. Or something. ] We both know there is little difference between the air up there and the air down here.

[impetuous]

Except one's up there and the other's down here. [ Before she does actually smack him or something, he holds up his hands in sign of surrender. ] That was the last I'll say of it. I promise.

[scinlae]

[ She shakes her head, lips twitching into a ghost of a smile. Idiot. ]

[impetuous]

[ Bouncing the ball on the ground once, the lights inside flicker on. He throws it against the wall and manages to catch it on its return. ]

[scinlae]

You appear to have gotten your ability to catch back.

[impetuous]

And it's fantastic. [ He tosses the ball lightly to her. ] Let's see you try.

[scinlae]

[ .... WHY?

Fine, alright, she'll humor him. She rolls it around in her hand before she throws it against the wall. It bounces although she nearly misses it on the return.

Welp. ]

[impetuous]

[ To say or not to say something. While he debates, he smiles pointedly at her. He might be waggling eyebrows too. ]

[scinlae]

[ No. Don't. Stop. ]

You are wise to keep silent. [ Here, have your stupid ball back. ]

[impetuous]

I have my moments.

[ He takes it and bounces it twice against the floor. He lifts it to examine the dancing lights inside. ]

If it wasn't a friend's, I'd probably have cut it open already to see how it works.

[scinlae]

They are too infrequent.

[ She tilts her head, watching them also. ]

It is powered by lightning, if I remember correctly.

[impetuous]

I had it explained the same way. [ He glances up at the clear skies. ] Hard to believe anyone could harness lightning. And this is all without magic.

[scinlae]

Hmm. [ She... does not care. WHATEVER WHATEVER. She is trying to figure out why she hasn't walked off yet. ]

[impetuous]

[ In a fit of adolescent need to impress, he rolls the ball over his knuckles without dropping it. Shifting, he rolls the ball up his arm where he bumps it. It falls in his open hand. ]

[scinlae]

What are you doing? [ If she is impressed she certainly does her damnedest not to show it, but it leaks through in the corners of her eyes and a twitch of her mouth. ]

[impetuous]

Playing. It's something us common folk do to pass the time.

[scinlae]

Needlessly flashy. [ She knows what playing is jerk! ]

[impetuous]
