[Martel actually started holding onto Zelos loosely around the waist an hour or so ago, after they went over a hilly patch of ground. They'd been riding for a few hours, she thinks, from the way the sun has been moving. She can't tell, of course. And she can't tell where they are, either. She's never been out this far from the Castle, really. That doesn't mean she's not enjoying, it, though.]

So, have you been to this place before? Wanderer's Yard.

[He stares at her for a moment like she grew a second head or something or she's yanking his chain. SORRY SPENDING ALL HIS LIFE HEARING WHAT A FAIL CHOSEN HE WAS HAS ITS EFFECTS ]

[wilder]

[Then he goes back to his more calm look]

...Heh. Whatever.

It's true. [She pokes him in the back, right between the shoulder blades so he can't ignore her.] Look at us. We're in the middle of nowhere on a journey we prepared for in ten minutes. And I didn't even blink when you asked. I just said yes. Because I need something to do with my time than just sitting around feeling useless.

And now we're talking about how people need something to believe in, and yet... we don't believe in ourselves.

[He makes a small whine when she pokes him] Heeey!

[wilder]

[But he'll at least listen to her now. He doesn't know how to feel about this. Happy? Annoyed? What? He has no idea, there's too many feelings]

Hm. What a pair we make then.

[She gives him a small shake of her head, and a small smile.] I think that maybe once I did, but...I failed the world. Just because I couldn't protect myself from one man with a sword. I didn't change anything that I wanted to change. The only thing I managed to do was help end the war.

[wilder]

Really?

Man, you are seriously too hard on yourself. Lots of people fail to protect themselves from a sword.

[heal_theworld]

...maybe I am. And maybe I have a point. If I had just paid attention, then none of this would have had to happen. [She pauses.] But then, I think about all the good things that happened, and all the people who wouldn't have existed, and wonder if it's selfish wishing I hadn't died and caused everything to happen.

[wilder]

[a small dry amused noise] I don't think it's selfish, but spending too much time thinking about the what if's you can't change will just drive you crazy.

So as I always say? Whatever will be, will be.

[heal_theworld]

...Wise words, you know. [She sighs.] And I think I might be being a little too depressing right now.

[wilder]

Ahaha, well I am the great Zelos Wilder! The greatness includes moments of great wisdom!

Hey, we both were! So c'mon! We got a journey to finish!

[heal_theworld]

Yes! We had better, because I didn't leave a note.

[wilder]

Ahaha, definitely then! I rather not have Yuan kicking down my door.

[he'll turn back around to get the mount moving again]

Yuan wouldn't kick down your door. He would just lie in wait until you had to leave. I'm the only one who kicks down doors.

Oh. Well that makes me feel better!

I wouldn't let him hurt you, Zelos, even if he finds out about this. Sometimes that man is hilariously overprotective.

[wilder]

Ahahaha, why thank you!

Poor Yuan, if he's that overprotective you may give him grays yet.

And why do you think I don't tell him about half of the things I get up to?

[he laughs]

Probably for the best.

Like kicking down the Once-Ler's door and kidnapping him. [Or the fact that she's going to repeat that on the morning they leave for the expedition.] I think i may have told him in passing, and he seemed to think I was in danger. From the Once-Ler.

[wilder]

[Okay that causes him to laugh more] - Seriously?! He thought Once-ler was a threat?

I tried to tell him the traps were completely harmless and a ten year old could make it through them, but I don't think he believed me. [She's laughing now too.]

[wilder]

Sheesh! They really are that simple- I like to set them off when I go up there!

[heal_theworld]

I think the boot is quite creative. And he must love you for that. Because that means he has to sneak out in the dead of night and reset them.
