Although it was something of a last minute production, South was eager for the chance to rub in York's age a little. She'd felt at such a disadvantage being the baby of her little group, and once the opportunity presented itself for a little mischief she couldn't ignore it.

It had taken some organization and a call out to York's friends, but people who knew him (and even some who didn't) were willing to pitch in and help out.

Thus, South had put up a bunch of decorations, in addition to whatever some of the others brought in. She even had a special hat for the party Boy. Five had someone making a cake, Aradia was helping put up decorations, Reno was in charge of alcohol ... South was quite pleased with herself.

[And most of the time, Carolina's hanging back and letting the party go on around. Hey it's not her birthday; she doesn't have to be entertaining guests.]

[Technically it's not South's birthday either, but she is the host so she's ... sort of mingling. Drink in hand, she makes her way over to Carolina after a bit.]

Color me a little surprised you actually showed up.

[She looks ... pleased, though.]

[Carolina's not exactly sure how to respond to that, or the fact that South looks, well, happy. Nonetheless, she's not the type to hold out where compliments are due.]

Good job here, South.

[South gives a little chuckle and stares at her feet for a moment, before glancing over the crowd.]

Yeah, well. I had some help.

[She never actually thought she'd hear those words from Carolina, and for a moment she's not sure what to do with them. It does, however, finalize something that had been on her mind.]

So, I've been thinking. About, what you said. [Surreptitious little glance at Carolina. Maybe now wasn't quite the time or place, but she couldn't think of a better moment.]

Neal knows no one. Well, that's a lie, he knows Carolina and he knows South (vaguely) but he does not know the guest of honor.

In all honesty, this has never stopped him before.

He makes his way into the party, dressed in his usual suit and hat, and spends most of his time mingling through the people. He could do with meeting some new faces. It might keep him from going completely crazy while being stuck inside.

Carolina's a bit surprised to see Neal here but more than glad for it. Sure, her team's around and York's friends are here, but it's almost nice to have someone who isn't ex-military in one way or another to talk to.

"Neal," she addresses him as she heads his way with a grin. "Didn't think I'd see you here."

And really, he looks pretty nice in his usual suit.

Neal looks up with a smile when he hears Carolina's voice, turning to face her with a nod. "Well, I do love a good party. And since it didn't seem like they were turning people away at the door, I thought it might be a chance to meet some new faces."

He does look pretty nice, but don't tell him that. His ego doesn't really need the boost.

Carolina grins and nods as she joins him on his end of the room. She's not sure how many here might know Neal, as she's mentioned him to York but that's about it.

"How've you been holding up?" She knows the past month has been difficult on her end, but honestly she hasn't been reaching out much to her non-UNSC friends much, considering. Seeing Neal here was more than a good reminder to do so.

[South's got on a simple dress, giving a wave when she sees Neal.]

Hey man, you been getting your Vitamin D? [She walks up and gives him a playful punch in the arm.]

[York is still looking a bit stunned, and someone has tossed a silly hat onto him. Come harass the old man!]

[York turns around a grins a little sheepishly.]

The Master, mainly, was wondering what the occasion was. Evidently, a party was scheduled, but he wasn't sure why. The decorations all seemed to be poking fun at the idea of aging, but that told him very little. He wandered around, listening to snippets of conversation, trying to discover the purpose of this event.

Oh hey, South knows this guy too! She wanders over and throws an arm over his shoulder.

"Hey, didn't expect to see you here!"

The Master turned in a way that released him, while seeming unconcerned by the contact.

"Good evening, my dear. What is the occasion?"
