Open! IF YOU DARE
Who: Mufasa and you!
What: A big ol' lion arrives at Paradisa.
When: how about now
Where: Castle lobby
Rating: PG? depends on who comes in
A clicking sound can be heard from the entrance as Mufasa's pawpads come in contact with the cool, solid ground, the relative loudness of the clicking being evidence to his great size. For a wild animal, his coat and mane are well-kept, and even though he's in a completely foreign area-- maybe even especially so-- he keeps his head held high. Though he has a guarded look to him, nothing in his body language indicates hostility. He stops once he's a few strides inside, looking around for any sign of life.

Luna might yawn in the face of danger.
Blink. A lion.
...
"Greetings."
danger will gobble you up for yawning :c
He's never seen any antelope or zebra quite like Luna before. That was moderately troubling; a kind of animal with which he was unfamiliar suggested that he was much farther from the pride lands than he'd originally hoped. But if it worried him, he didn't make it apparent.
Curious more was that the herbivore didn't take off in a panic; but Mufasa wasn't one to look a gift zebra in the mouth.
"Greetings. I am Mufasa, king of the pride lands. I wish to speak with the king of these lands."
Luna says she's unpalatable :<
She sits up a bit straighter and inclines her head a bit.
"A pleasure to meet thee, King Mufasa. I am Princess Luna of Equestria. However, I cannot say if there is any self-styled leader or king here."
how would you know. have you engaged in self-cannibalism, luna?
"I see. In that case, perhaps you may be able to help me with my current situation, Princess. I have some pressing matters to attend to at home, and it is essential that I return as quickly as possible."
no but it probably won't end well.
"None of us here are natives of this realm and nopony hath found a method in which one doth escape this realm of one's own volition."
no i imagine not
"Is that so?"
He takes the information in quietly, a small, thoughtful frown on his muzzle.
"How long have all of you been trapped in these lands?"

Re: no i imagine not
A soft sigh escapes him. Great kings of the sky... please. Protect my son until I am able to find a way home.
"What is keeping you here?"

"There is a magic in this place that is beyond mine ken. The enemy doth seem to be the castle itself, but how doth one go about fighting a place? And even if there is somepony manipulating us all through the castle, nopony hath seen hide nor hair of this hypothetical being."
no subject
"So that is what this peculiarly shaped mountain is called," he comments idly as he thinks. He knew of the magic that brought the Earth to life, and thus gave life to the animals, too; but a magic that trapped innocent people?
"It does not sound like the work of a mortal being, that much is obvious."
no subject
"This building is called Cair Paradisa, 'though many simply refer to it as 'Paradisa.'"
And sigh. "A mortal enemy would be infinitely preferable, but life itself doth seem to be difficult on purpose."
no subject
Mufasa shifts his weight on his paws.
"You said that there are others. And they are all," he hesitates for only half a second, "ponies, such as yourself?" Since she had referred to them, after all, as 'everypony'.
no subject
"Nay, 'tis merely an artifact of mine speech. 'Twould be a much more accurate reflection of the residents of this castle were I to use the phrase 'everyhuman.' They, however, use the phrase 'everybody' or 'everyone.'"
no subject
He can't help but give an irritated, light thump of his tail against the ground as he looks around. "I am not usually one for inaction, but I suppose I have no choice for now." The lack of control was certainly troublesome, and while thoughts of home brewed impatience, urging him to at least see for himself what the obstacle was-- the magic keeping him from home-- he knew it would be futile. After all, others had been trapped here for five years. Five years... that was half of a lion's lifespan.

And there's a small smile. "I can give thee a tour, at the very least."
no subject
Time would get him back. As usual, it just required patience.
A soft sigh escapes him before he looks to Luna, giving a small smile of his own, coupled with a chuckle.
"I've never known an herbivore to be so hospitable to a carnivore, but who am I to decline?"
Luna's first stop should probably be the kitchen. Just to get that out of the way.
no subject
"I am perfectly capable of defending myself and I am certain thou wilt have enough panicked reactions in the coming days. And I have yet to mention the entirely asinine questions regarding the existence of talking animals; some humans seem to believe they have a monopoly over speech."
no subject
He follows behind her, his strides defined and his posture high, but still with an overall relaxed demeanor.
"Is that so?" He chuckles, like he's in on some joke. (Spoilers: he is.) "I can already tell I'm going to have an interesting stay here."
no subject
"It may be too interesting at times, methinks."
And the first thing she does is pull open the door to the fridge with her magic. "This is the icebox. The majority of recognizable foods will be kept in here."
There's a vague hoofpoint at the shelf with all the raw meat and fish. That shelf is something she tries not to think about, but hey. If it keeps him from eating Twilight or the horses in the stables, she'll take it.
no subject
--although, woah, that was different. If he hadn't seen her horn glow out of the corner of his eye, he might've thought the thing had simply opened on its own.
"That's quite a useful trick you have," Mufasa comments, looking inside the fridge. He could feel its cold breath on his nose. An icebox? But no ice was visible... perhaps, then, it was named so for its coldness.
Something puzzles him, though.
"I have not often known animals to prefer their food chilled."
And by 'not often', technically he means 'ever', since really, it never got cold enough in the pride lands for food to ever become cold.
no subject
And she pulls open the freezer up top. There's your ice, Mufasa.
"The main function of an icebox is to preserve food, to slow down the process of rot. However, there are some foods that, by necessity, must be stored in low temperatures."
And she pulls out a carton of ice cream for his inspection. Do lions eat ice cream?
no subject
Despite the stronger burst of cold, Mufasa doesn't even bat an eye. He does turn his head momentarily to Luna, though, to show his attention. And then he notices her horn glowing again and he looks over, seeing the carton.
He can smell some sweetness under the box... but mostly, he just smells, well. The stuff that makes up an ice cream container. So he is, again, a bit confused. However, he's smart enough to realize it may not be the box itself.
"I presume you're referring to whatever is inside this..." ... "... thing? For a lack of a more elegant word."
Protip, Luna: Mufasa may as well be coming from the Stone Age. Or, well, even before that, really. At least he catches on quick.
no subject
And this time, she uses a hoof to lift the lid.
"The container? Yes. This is ice cream." A bit of a headtilt. "I do not know if thou wilt find it to thy liking. Dost thou wish to try?"
Sheesh. And she thought she was archaic.
