It's high time Mabel puts her ability to wish for anything to good use. She's got a long list of requests. So she's heard about that one time that everyone suffered for their wishes. Pfffft! That's in the past, and she promises to wish cautiously. She'll only wish for things that she absolutely needs.

What she absolutely needs is a bounce house.

It's a simple bounce house. Her only desire is to jump, not race awkwardly through an obstacle course. There's only so much enjoyment a kid can get from jumping on their bed, and what better way to fulfill the need to bounce than to wish for a quality bounce house? It's pretty great if she says so herself.

Mabel can be found inside the house, jumping and laughing and giggling to her heart's content. Anyone at all is free to join her, though she won't hesitate to remind others to play nice, remove all sharp objects, and always always keep their socks on.

"Hi!"

Mabel's in the middle of trying to perfect a somersault, but manages to fall flat on her face each time. While still laying down and somewhat bobbing from the bounce, she looks up at Jane and waves her in.

"You can come in if you want! Just be sure you don't have anything pointy on you, and take off your shoes."

Jane blinks, observing Mabel before waving herself.

"Um, sure, I suppose. I don't have anything pointy," She says, and she slips off her sneakers. What harm could some bouncy house fun do, anyway? Jane climbs in, the wobbly bounciness already messing with her balance. "Whoa..."

[bezazzled]

It doesn't take long for Mabel to get back on her feet, and she begins to bounce her way toward Jane, hands reaching out toward her. It's good to see a teenager who's not afraid to indulge in a little fun! Even if it does look like Jane hasn't set foot in a bounce house ever.

"Here! You can hold onto me if you want. Is this your first time or something?"

"Oh, thank you..." Jane takes Mabel's hands and gets back on her feet with a smile. "Hoo hoo! No, I used to go in these when I was younger!" And she definitely had - she'd done a lot of normal kid stuff...that is, of course, when her Dad still let her out of the house.

[bezazzled]

"Oh good!"

She continues to hold onto the teen's hands as she begins to jump a bit--small jumps at first so that Jane can get her footing. For a moment, there's a see-saw effect between the two of them, which just makes Mabel giggle.

"I always loved it when I'd go to a party with one of these things. I say you're never too old to bounce. I mean really, who would want to pass this up?"

Jane chuckles as they see-saw bounce. This is definitely nostalgic and definitely awesome. Why hadn't there been more things like this around sooner?

"That is too true," She says, "No one is ever too old for any kind of fun."

[bezazzled]

"See, you understand!"

Once they have a good rhythm going, Mabel slowly lets go of Jane's hands. Gotta take the training wheels off at some point, right? She starts to back up, pushing herself to jump higher.

"Wanna see me do a flip?" She hasn't mastered it yet, but she's close enough.

Jane seems to get back into the rhythm of the bounce house again, and even when she's feeling a little unbalanced, she slows a little and steadies herself against the wall, which admittedly isn't often.

"Go for it!" She tells Mabel, "But do be careful!"

When she's got enough height, she gives Jane a thumbs up, a look of determination on her face. She's totally going to nail this one.

"Here I go!"

Hup! She flings her body forward on the upward motion. This time, rather than flop on her backside, she just barely manages the flip. She spreads her arms out to steady herself after the initial surprise of pulling it off.

"I did it!"

"Wow!!! You really did!!"

Jane's grinning as she claps. There's no way she could manage anything like that on her own, so that flip was definitely impressive!

[bezazzled]

Mabel cheers at herself, and then reaches to pat herself on the back for what she deems is an amazing feat.

Now, why hog the spotlight when she can share it?

"Your turn! Let's see what you can do!"

She stills at Mabel's prompting, and her bounces slow and shrink.

"Um...gosh, I don't know if I can..."

[bezazzled]

"Not with an attitude like that. Where's your confidence, girl? Tap into your girl-power! Find your inner diva! Other girl-centered catch phrases!"

[cyan_maid]

That last one makes her laugh her odd, distinct laugh, and she starts to bounce a little higher.

"Well...alright! You've convinced me. I'll give it a shot!"

She gradually puts more and more power behind her bounces. Better step back, Mabel!

[bezazzled]

Meanwhile, Mabel chants Jane's name to give her encouragement.

"Jane! Jane! Jane! Jane!"

Jane just can't stop laughing! She can't help it, no one's ever chanted her name like that - except maybe Roxy, sort of, to get her attention. Still, as she bounces higher, she takes deep breaths to calm down. And then...

"Oooph!"

The attempted flip looks more like a back flop, but she did try and after having the wind knocked out of her, she's laughing again.

"Excellent first attempt!" Mabel keeps her enthusiasm going and extends a hand to help Jane up.

"I give it a solid seven, but I know you're capable of a ten!"

Jane takes your hand and chuckles at that score. "Honestly, I am happy with the seven, but if you really think I can pull it off, I'll give it another shot." When she comes to her feet, she leans against the wall for a moment to catch her breath.

"Gosh, you're really quite cheerful! Are you always so?" She quickly adds, "It's a good thing, it really is."

[bezazzled]

"What can I say?" she asks with a shrug of her shoulders and a smile on her face. "I like to look at the brighter side of things. It beats the alternative of moping all the time."

She bobs on her heels a bit, though the bounce house exaggerates her movements. "Ready for try number two?"

"It certainly does!" Jane says, grinning. Mabel's cheerfulness is catching, and soon enough Jane's back to bouncing again.

"I could give it another shot!"

[bezazzled]

Mabel brings her hands to cup around her mouth.

"The judges eagerly await Jane's second attempt. She's determined, she's ready, and she's going for the gold! A hush falls over the crowed..."

Oh goodness, this is too much fun! Jane's laughing again, but she's definitely trying to focus. Bounce, bounce, bounce...you could do it this time, Jane, you really could!

As Jane continues to bounce, Mabel takes a moment to whisper a wish, wishing up a piece of cardboard and a magic marker, and keeps it ready for when the time comes to give Jane a final score on her attempt. Whether she makes it or not, she'll likely give her a perfect ten.

Oh wow, that is way too adorable! But Jane's concentrating so hard she doesn't notice. Bounce, bounce, bounce...

And then, with a sharp gasp of breath, Jane goes for it! She just manages to do the flip and lands on her heels, falling backwards into the bounce house wall. "Oomph!"

She tries not to wince, she really does, but wow, was that a bumpy landing! Still, she pulled off the flip, so Mabel holds that "10" sign up high above her head, hooting and hollering.

"Woo! Yeah! Go Jaaaane! Go Jaaaane!"
