[Nightmares are never fun, no matter where you go. But things take a bit of a turn for the worse when you've jumped into the mind of a ninja. A ninja that can look into other people's heads, to be exact.

So which path will you pick?]

[She definitely has a weapon. Her bow, and as many arrows as she wants. But the bow and arrow may not make much difference once she sees what she is up against.

At first, there is only darkness, only her. But then everything goes red, and the sky and the ground begin to shift in shape and form, until everything surrounding her -- and presumably everything for miles to come -- is composed of massive red faces.

Frozen with fear and confusion, you cannot do anything but watch as strange, threatening figures begin to march towards you from the darkness. Big, small, wide and thin -- they all look like misshapen people, and all of them are grinning widely. As they come closer, it's more evident that they are chanting together:

"The time has come ... The Night Festival! 'Tis the time of the festival, which comes with the passing of every 216 years ... The Eclipse!"]

[Oh. Hell. No.

Katniss has no idea what this is - but she's not going down without a fight.

She notches an arrow, takes aim, and fires at the first red face in line coming towards her.]

[The arrow sticks in one of the figures shoulders, but it doesn't seem to notice. Instead, all the figures seem to look up towards the sky, reverent:

"The Five Guardian Angels descend ... !"

And then, one of the red faces in the ground takes form, massive in comparison to Katniss. The woman seems to rise from the ground, black feathers encompassing her as she floats into the sky. She finally stares down at Katniss once the transformation is complete]

[...Katniss is going to keep shooting, while she looks for a place to run. Because this is downright disturbing. She doesn't know where the hell she is but she's going to get the hell out of here.]

[Unfortunately, no matter how much she shoots, nothing seems to change. The ritual just keeps on going. And to keep her from running, another face begins to form into something more individual, and shoots down from the ceiling straight towards her, to stop her in her tracks. It changes into a small, octopus-like creature, cackling loudly before it flies off to take its place next to the winged woman]

[There is no use in screaming 'I don't like this!' so she goes for something a little more direct.]

Who are you? What is this? What do you want from me?

[There is no answer. The Angels must descend first, and so they do: First, a massive creature with its hands clasped, a massive cloaked man with his brain and skull exposed ... and then finally, flying down from the sky, a hawk-like figure.

The creatures on the ground rejoice, and it is then that she will get her answer. The man with his brain exposed speaks, in a booming, terrifying voice:

"'Tis a time of celebration. I bid thee welcome to this time and place. Partake in this holy festival!"

He points down, now, to a figure behind Katniss.

"You have to thank this honorable child, chosen by law of causality -- Peeta Mellark!"

And if she looks behind her, there he is -- though there's something decidedly off about him, as he stares up at the god above him. ]

Peeta ...? Peeta!

[She starts to move towards him, then stops. Why is he ... why is he looking at the god and not her? That's not Peeta. Peeta would always make sure the people he cared about - hell complete strangers - were okay before he got lost in anything else. That was how Peeta was.]

... what is this? That's not ... that's not my Peeta.

[Peeta does look towards Katniss when she calls for him, but he seems frozen to the spot, unable to move towards her. He looks back and forth between the god and her, terrified.

The god continues on:

"This time and place has been chosen for you to become what you are destined for!"

The winged woman giggles, now, and chooses to speak up:

"It is time for you to choose what you will sacrifice, boy. Perhaps ... all of them?"

She gestures to the ground beneath her, where Peeta and Katniss stand ... and now, many others. The other Victors, Katniss' friends from Paradisa, Rue, Gale, Prim ...]

[No ...]

NO!

[She steps forward again, her eyes going wild.] No, Peeta, no! If you're going to sacrifice anyone, sacrifice me. I'm the one you love! I'm the one who loves you most! Don't hurt them! Please, Peeta!

[She doesn't even know what he's trying to do - why he has to sacrifice - all she knows is that she could forgive him killing her. But never them. Never her family.]

[The others look around wildly, now, trying to figure out where they are, what's going on. Both Rue and Prim scream in fear.

Peeta, on the other hand, looks away from Katniss now, and up to the gods. It seems he's made his decision ...

The ground beneath he and Katniss rumbles, and a massive hand (also made of red faces) emerges from the ground, lifting the both of them up towards the sky.

Meanwhile, below them, the creatures that welcomed the gods begin to transform into horrifying, gruesome demons]

[Katniss knelt down as the ...hands? Faces? Lifted her and Peeta to the sky, her breath catches as she looked below her. Oh god, she hoped they were safe down there. All of them, all the people she and Peeta loved...]

[She swallowed, before turning to face -- whoever this was.]

[Dream Peeta looks toward her, almost guiltily.

"I'm sorry, Katniss. But I need this to recognize my dream."

Whatever dream it is, she won't have time to find out, because he'll be roughly shoving her off the hand to fall into the pit of demons below]

I know. I understand...

[She whispered softly, looking down, before she felt herself falling off the hand, and down into the demons. She closed her eyes, and screamed.]

I love you!

[Because if she was going to die for Peeta ... at least let that not still be between them. That wonder, that ending, it was all done now.

She heard the demons hungry screaming - she felt the wind on her face - a tear leaked from her eye -- ]

[She won't hit the ground, though, because Ino's jumping up to save her, catching her and landing gracefully in an empty space on the ground]

Jeez! At least try to grab on to something!

...Ino?

[Katniss clutches to her friend, now completely confused. She tumbles off of her, in that clearing. Looking around wildly for the horrific creatures.]

What the hell is this? Why did Peeta sacrifice me? What's going on?

[She'll grab Katniss by the arm, running away from the creatures. They can talk while they run -- after all, the demons aren't going to hang around while she explains]

It's called an Eclipse, you can sacrifice your friends to become a demon. [She frowns back up at the hand; she'd thought Peeta would never have done something like that ...] And we're going to get out of here before we get sacrificed.

[She ran along with her, not looking back. She didn't want to look back.]

... Peeta wouldn't do that. Peeta would never do that. [She looked behind her finally, her jaw tightening.] So whatever that was - it wasn't Peeta. Where do we go?

We need to get everyone together ... [she glances up at the sky again briefly] If we can stay in a group, we should be able to fend them off.

[But as she says that, something bright -- almost as though it's on fire -- comes flying down from the hand, which is now towering above everything. It is a brand, and it works itself into the flesh of both girls with a painful burning sensation]

--Nngh!

Okay - okay we can do this.

[She jerked forward with her entire body - as fire entered her. It's like the firebomb, all over again. Except this time it's on the inside and out on the outside.]

- what? What is that?

[Ino's rubbing at her hand, where a mark is left over from where it hit] It's a brand. It -- marks you as something to eat. [She's moving to get going again, even if her hand is killing her] Come on, we don't have a lot of time to round everyone up.

Great. Now I'm food.

[Katniss muttered as she followed after Ino as quickly as possible.] This day keeps getting better and better.

I don't know how this could have happened again ... [There are certain things required to let an Eclipse fall into place, after all. And she hadn't seen any of them. Odd ...

But what's most important right now is keeping everyone from being eaten, so once they've rejoined the others, she'll move to get everyone into a sort of formation behind her] Alright, come on, everyone. Weapons out if you've got one.

I don't know how this happened in the first place ... I don't even know where we are ...

[She made sure to gather Prim and Rue together, check on the others, make sure they were moving along with the crowd, as she kept watch all around them.]

[Ino will move protectively in front of the group]

We can worry about that stuff when everyone's safe. [But for now, there are a whole lot of nasty demons making their way towards them]
