i like the chance you take
Who: Cass and Steph!
What: Girl time♥
When: This weekendish
Where: Bathaus
Rating: C FOR CUTE
It was about time Steph put a little extra effort out there for Cass. She'd been all over the place lately, and it had to be hard on the girl that thought she was dead not too long ago. She'd promised a lot of fun things, but some of those fun things needed planning--like a beach day. So, for now, she'd have to improvise.
And that's why there was an assortment of fruits, candies, syrups, and sprinkles set out on the counter. Steph was trying to be quiet, taking the ice cream tubs out of the bag and sneak them into the freezer, but the paper was annoyingly loud in the quiet home.
This was supposed to be a surprise. Grr.

"Here," Steph laughs, reaching up to wipe beneath Cass' nose. As cute as that was, there was no need to get all sticky just yet. "And that's a good question. We'll have to investigate."
no subject
"You make one, now."
no subject
"Mine's a surprise, though. Go sit on the couch and I'll bring it over, okay?"
no subject
"Okay, ready."
no subject
Once she blends it all together, she pours two glasses and goes to join Cass on the couch, sitting right next to her.
"Alright. I haven't tried it yet, so we can both be disgusted together if it's terrible. Don't hate me."
no subject
"Don't be dumb. You're you. Will always love you."
no subject
"I'm just saying. I know that's true, Cass."

But the drink looks good, so Cass lifts her glass up and takes a few long sips of it.

"This is nice." She means more than just the milkshake, of course. "Kind of... making me cold. Can you reach blanket?"
There. Fixed.
no subject
"Now it's perfect."
no subject
"Very perfect. We can just... stay like this, til milkshakes run out. Then get more."
no subject
"Or we just wait here until Tim shows up and have him get us more."
no subject
"Good plan, but might backfire. What if... finish shakes, but he takes... hours, to come home?"

After a few more sips of her milkshake, Cass has a better idea.
"My turn, after this one. You stay here, keep place warm. I'll make milkshake, then... hurry back to you."
no subject
no subject
"Better?"
no subject
She rests her head against Cass. This should happen more often. It's unfair to Cass, really. Out of everyone she has in Paradisa, she's the one that loves her with the least baggage attached. No icky history, no arguments over friends or the Borgia or morals.
She tilts her head to look at her.
"How are you doing, Cass?"
It'd been a crappy month for everyone, but she's never really just sat with Cass and done a check in with her.

But then Tim had come back, so it was better. With him in the house, she couldn't sulk without it being obvious, but spending time with him had made her not feel quite so much like she wanted to sulk.
And now Stephanie is back too, trying to fix things. It was bad, but it doesn't have to be anymore. Still, she doesn't want to worry Steph or make her feel guilty, any more guilty than she does already, so she just shrugs and smiles at her again.
"Fine. Milkshakes are good."
no subject
no subject
"How are you?" There, she'll just turn it around, deflect this back onto Steph.
no subject
She sees what Cass is doing, there, but doesn't press. She'll just be honest. "Doing better."
It was pretty crappy there, for a long while. EH left her extremely rattled, and it just went downhill from there. Even babies left her uncomfortable and eager to get back to normal.

Happy and alive are all Cass wants for Steph, so just knowing she's back on that track is enough for Cass.
