[It isn't nearly as last minute as the year before, when a thought in the middle of the might pulled Fred from her sleep for an impulsive celebration for the holiday. Then, luckily, Harmony had been completely supportive of the plan. And even ensured that at some point she shed her pajamas and put on 'real' clothes. Even more 'real' than her usual ones, apparently.

But it seemed a shame not to have everyone over again this year, even if that word? Everyone? Has been drastically changed. There's still plenty of things to be thankful for. And now? Even more time to cook. Despite Elektra and Wesley's promises to help, Fred still disappeared pretty early Tuesday morning. There were things to be done, after all. And so much to cook.

What: the end of their best friends loss. And Lilah starting her week of comaing for her canon update.

It had been Fred's idea for them to have a sleepover. It had been a while since the two best friends had had time with just the two of them, after all. They decided on the tower Fred lives in over Lilah's penthouse in town due to the amenities that came with the tower. Steam rooms, more space? How was she supposed to say no to such an offer. Besides, they tried to have sleepovers at one of their places at least a few times a month. It helped cement the bonds of their friendship, of course.

Lilah had gone into town and bought a few bottle of wines for the occasion, along with some cookie dough and other snacks for them to share and was now at her friend's door, knocking on it.

It was due to be a good night. She had a feeling about it. And her feelings had a tendency to be right.

Rating: How much trouble can they really get into?

( Read more... ). Getting a place in town. Moving in with Vivian. It all felt especially abrupt and Fred couldn't help but wonder if she'd made the best of the time they had. Thoughts like that always seemed to bring Fred to the kitchen. And at least, this particular instance, there was a particular project she could focus her efforts on.

Elektra's birthday.

Fred was fairly certain if she'd attempted to openly make plans with the other woman, they would have been brushed aside. Which left her with no other option than the surprise, a small get together with her friends in Caritas. As far a Elektra knew, Fred just wanted some company after Gunn's departure. What really waited for her was balloons, streamers and a three-tiered cake. (Those were very busy thoughts to counter). The smallest of katanas sat next to it -- no bigger than a letter opener really -- ready to cut chocolate topped with butter cream into manageable slices.

All things considered, it didn't seem that threatening. But Fred would never sit all that well with being yanked into unfamiliar settings without permission, and this was no different. After the rising waters, they first few hours on the ship had been especially difficult. It brought back too many specific memories. Still, a lot had happened between then and now -- and after a few hours it at least felt like she could breathe again.

And there were things that held some appeal.
