[It took quite a bit of work on short notice, but the castle cemetery has undergone a remarkable transformation this evening. Every grave is decked out in brightly colored flowers, especially marigolds. As night falls, the place will start to glow by candlelight as well. There's a primary table with food laid out, where you can put your potluck dishes, and another small one with some craft supplies. The music playing is upbeat, like it's encouraging you to dance! This is meant to be a happy occasion, after all.]

[Sugary sweetbreads, colorful skulls, candied pumpkin, and hot, thick atole are set up for your enjoyment. However, you're encouraged to bring a dish as well - something that reminds you of a dead or departed friend or loved one, like their favorite food. Go ahead, try a little!]

[Rebekah's still getting used to the castle, but she overheard a celebration, and couldn't help but wander out to inspect it, curious. She's currently making her way through the tables of food, looking at them all curiously. They are unlike the things she is used to eating.

Should she try some?]

[She sure should! Aradia notices an unfamiliar person at the table and approaches from the other side, facepainted of course.]

Hi there! See anything you like?

I have never seen most of these. [She admits, trying not to look alarmed at the girl's face paint] What is this celebration for?

[Aradia is cheerily oblivious to any alarm on Rebekah's part. :D]

For the dead! Although since nobody stays dead in Paradisa, it's also for people who used to live here and have been sent away.

[ Arya is currently trying some of the candied pumpkin. She half-expects it to be as awful as the rest of the Earth food, but it actually tastes...normal. Even good. Feeling a bit more daring, she takes a sugar skull as well. ]

[Aradia is going for the sugar skulls at the same time and whoops handbump.] Oh! Sorry.

[ Arya pulls her hand back. ]

Excuse me.

[Buuut Aradia also pulls her hand back because whoops awkward. She gestures at the skulls palm-up, though.]

No no, go ahead! I already had a bunch while I was making them, haha.

CRAFTS / FACE PAINTING

[The craft table has ample paper and markers for drawing or writing, if you'd like to, as well as scissors and colorful tissue paper for making papel picado banners. (Some patterns are provided as well!)

There's plenty of face paint, in case you'd like to have something painted on like Aradia does.

And last but certainly not least, there's some undecorated sugar skulls and icing you can use to decorate them. Feel free to make a skull representing a departed person, or just for fun! These ones are edible, too.]

[ Alice sits leisurely by the craft table, painting her face.

She skipped the white base altogether, her skin is pale enough, but not the flowers on her forehead and cheeks. One eye done, she is patiently filling in the other one as if she has all the time in the world to make the gradient just perfect! ]

[ Alice doesn't mind staring, does she? Because that's what Arya is doing. ]

Have you done this before?

[ Alice wants all the staring, even if she doesn't appear to, giving most of her attention to painting her face and not a single glance to the girl. ]

Done what, exactly?

This. The celebration.

[ Nymeria snuffles closer. Arya grabs a handful of fur to keep her away from the woman. She doesn't feel like having yet another person panic and try to attack Nymeria. ]

[Don't mind the young disheveled-looking man who walks by and almost jumps when he turns and sees Alice's face.]

Ah!

[And he lets out a sigh and calms down when he realizes there is nothing to freak out about.]

Goodness, all these faces...you're really good at that, huh?

[ Alice puts up a finger as if to silence him while her other hand finishes up her handiwork, which requires all her concentration of course. She keeps this up for more than would be polite, but who really cares about such things, right?

She puts down the brush and smiles sweetly at him after. ]

You were saying?

[An unsure sort of shrug.]

Oh, well, erm, I was saying that you're talented! At painting your face, I mean. Even if it is rather spooky...but still, it looks good!

[Ooh! Aradia will just lean on over for a better look.]

Wow, that looks really good! You work fast.

[ Alice is a stickler for many things, except personal space. She keeps colouring in her eyes before pausing to speak. ]

I skipped the base paint.

[London usually isn't the type to go to a graveyard for a party, and she was a little apprehensive at first. But something in her was curious. The invitation seemed friendly enough, and she'd heard about el Dia de los Muertos somewhere along the line.]

Oooh! This isn't as creepy as I thought it was going to be!

NOV 2: WANDERERS' YARD

[The party continues the next day, although you certainly don't have to attend both if you don't want. A transportalizer is set up temporarily to take you from the castle graveyard to the Wanderers' Yard some distance away.

The huge tablets here aren't as lavishly decorated as yesterday's graves, but there are a lot of marigolds around, nonetheless. Particular care has been given to Paradisa's tablet, of course, but the illegible ones have not gone neglected. This celebration is a little more somber than last night's, although not grave, per se (pun very intended).

Aradia is providing some paints and small brushes you can use to color in the names of your departed friends on the tablet, and strips of cloth you can use to write messages to them. The messages can then be tied around a tall, thin stake driven into the ground nearby, and left there.

Refreshments are again provided, although they're mostly leftovers from last night.]
