[Martel was asleep in her bed when the toxin came, and she fell from her dreamless state of sleep to something much, much worse.

When you arrive in her dreamscape at first it seems empty, just blackness that seems to never end. It’s cold, and empty, and it’s almost like you’re trapped there, with nothing. Only when you take a step, does the blackness start to resolve into colors and pictures. A nightmare starts to take form, and you can’t escape until it plays out.

What’s your worst fear?]

I'm the only healer around... [She gives a bit of a rattled, choking laugh. Then she notices who it is.]

...T-Tsuna? [She was not expecting him. What was he even doing here?] What are you...

[His vision is starting to blur at the edges. But he bites back the tears, focused on only her first words:]

Is there something you can do? Martel?

[Can healers do that-- heal themselves? Maybe they could, but that wound looked awful, and Tsuna could tell she was losing energy quickly. If there was nothing she could do, he wouldn't have any choice but to go into hyper will mode, and carry her until they could find someone.

But if he'd only said something, they wouldn't be in this predicament in the first place.

Why hadn't he said anything?]

[She gives a small smile, reaching up with her bloodied hand to touch his cheek.] No, Tsuna. I know my fate. This... [She takes a deep rattling breath.] Has happened before.

[When her fingers brush his cheek, a tear slides out from his eye, tracing itself along her finger, mixing with the blood. His powers-- they're not there. He can't do anything.]

No, Martel, I... [A few more tears fall. He takes a shaky breath.] I'm... I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

Don't be sorry... [She's still smiling slightly.] I was... a-always fated to die, I suppose...

No, don't... don't say that. If I'd just-- [He chokes.] I just watched, and...

Don't blame yourself... There was nothing you... [She swallows heavily.] Or anyone could do.

This can't be happening...

[Another shaky breath. A gulp.]

You'll-- you'll come back, won't you? The castle...

[Were they even at Paradisa anymore? He's never seen that tree before. Never seen this place before. What if she was-- forever?]

[She can't explain in that much time, she can't even begin to tell him that she was already dead and just playing it out. That she'll die if the castle sends her back. That she might be dying again right now. So she puts on a brave face.] Yes, I'll come back. I'll be fine, Tsuna.

[But uncertainty lingers in his mind. Even if she was coming back, even if she was going to be fine-- she was dying in front of him, and he couldn't do anything about it.

The hand pressing against the wound curls into a shaking fist. He shuts his eyes hard. All he can do is apologize as the tears continue to drop.]

I'm sorry, I'm sorry...

[Her eyes close on her tears, one escaping, and her hand slides from Tsuna's cheek. The rattle of her breathing stops. Just like that....she's gone.]

Martel? Martel! Martel!!

[He shakes, staring at her lifeless body. And then he hunches over a little, tears pouring down his eyes, before finally he doubles over, forehead resting on her stomach.

And the only sound that can be heard is Tsuna's broken sobs.]
