[Martel was asleep in her bed when the toxin came, and she fell from her dreamless state of sleep to something much, much worse.

When you arrive in her dreamscape at first it seems empty, just blackness that seems to never end. It’s cold, and empty, and it’s almost like you’re trapped there, with nothing. Only when you take a step, does the blackness start to resolve into colors and pictures. A nightmare starts to take form, and you can’t escape until it plays out.

What’s your worst fear?]

[For a moment, Dhaos believes that the crowd is yelling at him, though he knows not who they are. They're entirely correct about the world, the tree, and his being weak, and he wouldn't be surprised if he's at fault for the deaths of those children too. Thus he's rather confused when he realizes that the crowd is actually directing their scorn at a woman with green hair that seems rather familiar...

Seeing no reason why they should blame her for all that had gone wrong, Dhaos places himself between her and them.]

[She startles when she sees him, because she remembers him, the man from their future, even farther than the others.] ...Dhaos?

[Thanks to his brief departure from the castle, he no longer remembers Martel as she is; only memories of the guardian of the World Tree remain. Still, he is not one to allow an innocent to come to possible harm if help it.]

...I would ask how you know my name, but this hardly seems the time.

Ah, I met you before. When you were at the Castle. [She pauses.] Why are you here?

Ah. So you are one I knew from the first time in the Castle... I apologize, but I do not remember you.

[He pauses to eye the mob, looking for any signs that they might decide violence is the way to go in this situation.]

I do not know why I was here originally, but I will not allow you to come to harm.

I'm Martel Yggdrasill. [she says almost automatically, then looks at the mob.] You should really leave. This is all my fault. You don't need to be involved.

[...Martel...?

Dhaos is only surprised by this revelation for a moment. Then, his resolve hardens.]

...I will not leave you. You've done nothing to deserve their scorn.

I... I'm the cause, really. My brother, he may have done all those things, but he did it for me.

...The dead cannot speak. They cannot object to what others do with their legacy. You need not suffer for his crimes.

Of course I do. They were done in my name, I raised him. What if I...did something wrong?
