[Nightmares are never fun, no matter where you go. But things take a bit of a turn for the worse when you've jumped into the mind of a ninja. A ninja that can look into other people's heads, to be exact.

So which path will you pick?]

[somewhere, real Ino is rolling her eyes at all this. how embarrassing and stupid she's being.

she's quiet for a few moments, taking some deep breaths. it'll be okay, she can do this. he must already think she's completely nuts, but ...]

[Oh good, she agreed, he offers her a reassuring smile]

Okay, so I'm gonna stand up now and see what there is to eat. I promise I won't leave this room.

[she'll move to get ... off his lap, lmfao, so he can move. but she still keeps a hand on his sleeve]

[Curse the need to eat. Still, he'll stand, or rather try to, as once he gets to his feet he has to bend almost double for her to continue her sleeve clinging]

Uhhhh, Ino? If you're gonna hang on, you'll have to come with me. Or at least, you know, stand. I'm pretty sure this isn't good for my back.

Shut up.

[TSUN TSUN TSUN. she's moving to get up, a little wobbly, and she rubs at her eyes with her free hand]

What? It's not my fault you're short.

[Still, not she's standing, he'll move slowly around the kitchen, checking out cupboards with his free hand]

[she just follows silently, looking around. there's not much salvageable in the cupboards, given she punched a lot of them]

[He's frowning a little, he's a fairly good cook, but even he can't make something from nothing]

Wow, you sure had a kitchen rage in here.

[at least she left the fridge untouched!]

I held back. [this is said solemnly, she's not really joking]

You know what, I can really, honestly, believe that.

[He opens the fridge, peering into it]

Well, we have cheese and eggs and butter. I could make an omelette.

[she looks at him oddly]

You don't put butter in an omelette. [what is with you and butter, dude]

You do, right? I've always done it...anyway. [It's delicious okay. He'll start gathering ingredients together]

[whatever .... she'll just let him make it how he wants lmfao]

It's fine.

[she'll just move her hand from his sleeve to ... actually hold on to his hand]

[He was reaching up for the least ruined frying pan when she does this, it's enough to make him freeze for a moment, he gaze falling down to their hands. He seems to struggle with some indecision, before giving her hand a gentle squeeze, his fingers linking with hers.

Just this one time, then he'll stop. He'll get over this and everything will be okay.

He focusses on starting to make the omelette, as best as he can with one hand anyway]

...This might require some creative egg breaking.

[she just lifts her own free hand to easily pick up and crack an egg on the edge of the bowl. LIKE THIS?]

[Blink blink]

Ooooor be really ambidextrous, okay. That works too.

[she just shrugs]

It would be pretty dumb of me to only be able to use one hand properly.

I guess. Yet another thing you learn in ninja school?

[He'll be doing his best to get this omelette working with one hand. Failing mostly, but hey]

Nah, my dad taught me that. Said he got his hand trapped under someone's foot on a mission, and he would have kicked the bucket if his teammates hadn't jumped in to save him.

[What is your world even, Ino] So instead of the moral 'you can always count on your friends' it's 'learn how to kill a guy with one hand?'

You can always count on your teammates. But anything I can learn that keeps me alive is a helpful skill. [cracks another egg]

[He wants to point out that no, no you can't. Eventually everyone will walk out on you and that's just how life is. But given her current mental state, his feelings on this matter probably wouldn't help]

...Sounds like it can be tough sometimes. Where you live. [Stirring the eggs doop doop]

Not really. There are much worse places. [Like here, lmfao :/] And I've learned how to fight since I was a little kid, so it's not strange.

...I guess that's true. [He gives a soft shrug of his shoulders, as unpleasant as his upbringing was, he was never required to learn to fight. For a start, it wouldn't have made much difference against Brett and Chett, they were stronger than him AND worked as a team. It was far easier to find a hiding place in the barn and leave them wreck their havok elsewhere]

Don't you wish sometimes you didn't have to fight, though? You know, have a peaceful childhood?

[shakes her head]

Peace doesn't just come out of nowhere. You have to fight for it -- and if not you, then someone else. And knowing the things I do lets me protect the people I care about. I would never give that up.
