Halloween ] [ when all the little ones come and play

What: Halloween!! Trick'or Treating and a Slumber Party!
When: October 31st.
Where: Ballroom to Castle to City to Ballroom
Rating: G to PG13

Early when you rise, it feels like you've had the best night's sleep. You're well-rested and the air outside the window is crisp and showing more than just the signs of fall. Mostly, because the seasons are weird here. You should be used to that. The castle has opted to go simple for the holiday, providing only invitations to all to take the children of the castle Trick or Treating starting at three in the afternoon. There is the promise of a slumber party and time to exchange and enjoy candy. Residents are given bags of candy to hand out (though the castle suspects some might simply eat it themselves) and large Halloween themed bowls.

Costumes are hung, ready to be worn, for all the little boys and girls. With spider rings around their toothbrushes and glow in the dark vampire teeth in their water glass, the castle is glad that the young ones are so excited for the holiday. They all get dressed, proudly displaying their costume, and head down to meet the rest of the children where they hope to have a memorable Halloween for many years to come.

[Felix has clearly already been into his candy stash, since he's excitedly running around the ballroom with a sheet over his head and and a flashlight underneath, making ghost sounds and giggling madly.

He can't see that well, so it's probably a matter of time until he trips on somebody]

[ For all the Duke yelped, Felix's toes might be hurting a little more. Duke hasn't shed his knight costume yet.... ]

[He smacks into the ground, his flashlight goes rolling away, and Felix is cussing up a storm unfit for the ears of most children]

[ Duke is torn between clapping his hands over his ears and listening to the words to try to figure out what they all mean.

Although he is fairly sure that they aren't good words. Well, he knows enough of them to guess that all of the words are bad.... ]

Sorry! [ He's just going to tuck his legs up now. He probably should have found a corner to try to figure out what candy he had, huh? ]

[He stops long enough to bend over and rub his toe]

Shit...it's not your fault...

Ow...what're you wearing?

... Armor. I want to be a knight. [ A little sheepishly. Its a lighter weight metal than what knights would really wear, but.. metal. ]

Those still exist where you come from?

Yes. I lived near the castle, which is where the Royal Guard lives. Because that's where the Emperor lives, and they need to be around to guard him.

Emperor, huh? Do you think he's a good guy?

Uhm... [ Give him a moment to think. ]

I know he's old. And he keeps Father busy.

Is your father a knight too?

He was, but now he does lots of paperwork, and meetings, and trips...

Sounds like he's important...

[He crawls away to retrieve his flashlight]

[ Duke just sits and listens. ]

Possibly. It mostly means he's not home a lot though.

[He crawls back a minute later and sits next to Duke]

[ Blinking over at him, but really not that accurately. ]

[ He's not sure what to say to that. ]

... But this means you can decide who he was, doesn't it? And why you never met him?

[ Because then you can make some sort of story out of it, right? ]

[Meanwhile, Aradia's looking through her haul but not sitting particularly out of the way. It's only a matter of time before she's tripped on by somebody.

Maybe you should consider cutting some eye holes in your ghost costume before you go running around like a weirdo. [and if it already has eye holes, she just can't see them from here.]

[He pulls the sheet off, though it takes some tugging since he's kind of tangled up in it]
