Halloween ] [ when all the little ones come and play

What: Halloween!! Trick'or Treating and a Slumber Party!

Early when you rise, it feels like you've had the best night's sleep. You're well-rested and the air outside the window is crisp and showing more than just the signs of fall. Mostly, because the seasons are weird here. You should be used to that. The castle has opted to go simple for the holiday, providing only invitations to all to take the children of the castle Trick or Treating starting at three in the afternoon. There is the promise of a slumber party and time to exchange and enjoy candy. Residents are given bags of candy to hand out (though the castle suspects some might simply eat it themselves) and large Halloween themed bowls.

Costumes are hung, ready to be worn, for all the little boys and girls. With spider rings around their toothbrushes and glow in the dark vampire teeth in their water glass, the castle is glad that the young ones are so excited for the holiday. They all get dressed, proudly displaying their costume, and head down to meet the rest of the children where they hope to have a memorable Halloween for many years to come.

[Steve will definitely give that tie a long look before answering. He didn't even know they made ties of him... or that Phil was a fan. Welp. This is one way to find out.]

Both. Kids liked the old costume back home and it never hurts to be prepared especially after the month we've had.

I understand. I'm just as leery. [Discreetly, he moves his jacket aside, showing the strap on his shoulder holster. He lets it fall back into place, then after a beat, smiles slightly and...is that shyness? No, couldn't be...]

The uniform gets better. I...streamlined it a bit for freedom of movement.

[Steve is relieved to have at least one other guy looking out for all these kids. He's not arrogant enough to think if something happened he'd be able to cover all of them. He'd say as much, but that last comment has his attention.]

You design uniforms too?

I helped with yours. [A beat, hesitantly as he smooths a hand discreetly over his tie] You're...going to leave a mark on the world, sir. A powerful one.

[Steve doesn't know what to say to that initially so he smiles shyly. He doesn't see himself as someone who leaves a mark. He'd like to make a positive difference in the world, but didn't everyone?]

You know all I've ever wanted to do is help other people. If I leave my mark doing that then I consider myself a lucky man.
