Halloween ] [ when all the little ones come and play

What: Halloween!! Trick'or Treating and a Slumber Party!
When: October 31st.
Where: Ballroom to Castle to City to Ballroom
Rating: G to PG13

Early when you rise, it feels like you've had the best night's sleep. You're well-rested and the air outside the window is crisp and showing more than just the signs of fall. Mostly, because the seasons are weird here. You should be used to that. The castle has opted to go simple for the holiday, providing only invitations to all to take the children of the castle Trick or Treating starting at three in the afternoon. There is the promise of a slumber party and time to exchange and enjoy candy. Residents are given bags of candy to hand out (though the castle suspects some might simply eat it themselves) and large Halloween themed bowls.

Costumes are hung, ready to be worn, for all the little boys and girls. With spider rings around their toothbrushes and glow in the dark vampire teeth in their water glass, the castle is glad that the young ones are so excited for the holiday. They all get dressed, proudly displaying their costume, and head down to meet the rest of the children where they hope to have a memorable Halloween for many years to come.

Dairine pulls back a bit, grinning from ear to ear.]

Precisely. [It might not look it, but you better believe she's heavily armed tonight. Especially after what happened last Halloween.]

So... who are you supposed to be?

[That look worries him, Dairine. It really does. Clearing his throat self consciously comes first though.] Captain America.

I don't remember if anyone told her about his superhero name

[As it should. She can be a right devil sometimes.]

Who's that? A patriotic figurehead? A superhero who was big in the 40s?

I don't think so. Idk how that hasn't happened!

Both. [Can you sense there's more to this Dairine? Because there is.]

No idea! She knows about the serum and joining the war, but not Captain America.

[Sort of, but she's distracted at the moment.]

I didn't know you were the superhero type! Who's your favorite hero? Do you collect trades?

[...Yes, she's totally assuming he's a fellow comics fan. Whoops.]

Uh no... I don't really have a favorite hero. There's some men I admire, but... [That's real life. Sadly he can't be into comics since it's his comic book series that made comics a thing aside from Superman comics which doesn't exist in the MCU. :(]

That's alright. I know it's hard to pick favorites. [Pats his arm. Dairine could fix that. She has a healthy pile of X-Men mutant comics in her room, and she is willing to share.]

Then why did you choose Captain America?

I picked him because... I am him. It's kind of a long story. I was hoping Bucky might have told you about it.

[What. WHAT?! Dairine looks thoroughly shocked.]

He said you took a serum to join the army, which made you stronger and… well. [She gestures up at him, indicating his changed body shape and height.] …Make you who you are today. He didn’t tell me you became a superhero!

I wasn't really a superhero. I was more of a representation for the men who were allowed to fight. [Or dancing monkey. He probably shouldn't confess that to Dairine of all people though.] Putting on a costume, acting in movies, letting them write comics about me; it gave people hope. Sold bonds too.

It wasn't until recently I changed that. [And started to really become Captain America.]

Like Uncle Sam and Rosie the Riveter? [What? Because she would tease him mercilessly about it? NEVER.]

And that's when you started fighting HYDRA, right?

Sort of. I can't really compare to them. [He nods.] That's the moment. I've got a lot more fights with them ahead.

Aww, I think you're underestimating yourself. [Dairine smiles up at Steve before attempting to poke his side.] If nothing else, you've got more muscle than them.

So I've been told. [Bucky at least mentioned THAT much.] Someday you should tell me the stories. I want to hear all about them!

[Steve chuckles. He probably can't even feel a poke with this armor on.] When I have more stories to tell, you'll hear about them. You've got my word.

[She laughs as well.] I'll hold you to that.

You bet I will. Come on... [She tugs at his arm.] Let's see if the little trick-or-treaters are ready to go.
