[After a week of being stuck here and exploring the city, Giotto decided it was time to explore the castle itself. This place was actually quite large, and if he was going to be living here then he should explore it thoroughly. It always helped to be prepared, no matter what the situation, and from he's heard, this castle liked to do things to its residents on a regular basis. If he was going to keep with his promise and foil the castle at every turn, he needed to know what he had to work with. Knowing the enemy, one could say, because it was the building itself.

So today only, you'll find him wandering the halls and in public areas casually, almost lazily, though he's really inspecting them and cementing the layout of this place into his head. Come bother him on his wonderful endeavor.]

Perhaps a little amusement. [He swears his intentions aren't always trollish!]

Only a little? [Okay, they were getting nowhere with this conversation fast.] What were you reading, before I distracted you?

Hm? Oh, just a little book on what you all call "Christmas". I should wonder if you have a holiday for every month!

Christmas. Yet another family holiday. And not for every month. [A pause.] There's nothing in March that I know of.

Oh? Should I be on the lookout for January and February as well, then?

January is the new year, and February... [He thinks.] Perhaps there's not much in February.

I see. Perhaps I'll read up on that one, next.

Do you have a favorite holiday, Giotto?

Do you read up on everything you hear about?

Ah, not particularly. I've never really thought about it.

Perhaps not everything. Just whatever happens to catch my interest at the time.

Oh? Well, Thanksgiving and Christmas certainly sound right up your alley.

And holidays are the best place to start.

[A soft smile graces his lips as he thinks about that.] Of course. But then again, I'm with my family most of the time. A holiday makes no difference.

Oh? Do you not partake in the events particular to those holidays?

Well, Thanksgiving is an American holiday. Christmas is more universal, and we do exchange gifts, but work does not stop just because it is a holiday.

No? [A chuckle.] Seems these books have been lying to me.

What is it that you do anyway?

Perhaps I am just strange.

[Of course he'd ask that question.] Nothing much. A little bit of this and that.

Ah? So you do not have an occupation, then. [Or you're being weirdly sketchy about it for some reason.]

...Yes. [Oh, like that wasn't suspicious.]

... [con...fusion..] Yes you... don't?

Ah, yes, that. I don't have a job. I do nothing. [Time to cover that by pulling out and looking at his pocket watch, because this is incredibly awkward.]

[Giotto, you clearly don't do nothing, if the past two conversations have been any indication. But why was he hiding it?

Well, Mufasa won't pry. He shifts and crosses his forelegs at the ankles.]

Have I told you that I am the king of the lands I hail from?

...of course you are. [Why is he not even remotely surprised.] You are too wise to be anything less than a king or the man behind the king.

Oh, you flatter me. Really, I'm nothing more than an old lion with too much time on his paws, and far too many books at his disposal. [He lets his gaze carry over the library with a smile for a moment as he speaks idly.]

My home is called the Pridelands, a golden land touched by light. I've a great pride of many lionesses and cubs, including my mate [the one whose name he doesn't remember] and my son. It is a fruitful land, filled with clean water, and plenty of game. I could hardly ask for more.

And I think that you don't flatter yourself enough.

[Giotto watches him speak of it, and the pride in his voice, and then turns back to his pocket watch, to look at the words engraved upon the inside.] How do you do it?

[He gives the man a warm smile.]

One day at a time.

I suppose that's the most one can ever hope for.
