It was about time Steph put a little extra effort out there for Cass. She'd been all over the place lately, and it had to be hard on the girl that thought she was dead not too long ago. She'd promised a lot of fun things, but some of those fun things needed planning--like a beach day. So, for now, she'd have to improvise.

And that's why there was an assortment of fruits, candies, syrups, and sprinkles set out on the counter. Steph was trying to be quiet, taking the ice cream tubs out of the bag and sneak them into the freezer, but the paper was annoyingly loud in the quiet home.

This was supposed to be a surprise. Grr.

"Was that his idea or yours? If it was his, I think he was just looking for an excuse to eat an ice cream cake with you," she smirks.

[hellofist]

"Both? My idea... to re-celebrate. Cake was his."

It's still one of the best ideas ever, in Cass' opinion. Although milkshakes is definitely up there on the charts too.

"I see," Steph hums, sipping her milkshake. "He took advantage of the celebration. Acceptable in this situation, I guess."

[hellofist]

"How is that... taking advantage?" She pokes Steph lightly in the side. "Jealous?"

[secondchances]

"Me? Jealous? Never. I encourage household bonding."

[hellofist]

"We'll save milkshake... for Tim, then. To share, bond."

[secondchances]

"We'll have enough stuff left over to make some with him later, if he's up to it." They got first dibs on all the good stuff, though.

[hellofist]

Cass is completely fine with them getting the first choices and the good bits, but she doesn't doubt that Steph and her will both set aside good ingredients for Tim. They both like him too much to stick him with only bad stuff.

And look, she's just drained her glass completely. Licking her lips because hello milkshake mustache, she looks over the milkshake fixins to try and plan out her next creation.

"How many milkshakes... is too many, do you think?"

That, and Steph didn't cheap out when grabbing milkshake goodies. All of it is good.

"Here," Steph laughs, reaching up to wipe beneath Cass' nose. As cute as that was, there was no need to get all sticky just yet. "And that's a good question. We'll have to investigate."

[hellofist]

Like it's nothing at all, Cass catches Steph's hand so she can pull it over and pop Steph's finger into her mouth, sucking the milkshake off. It was her mess to start with and she doesn't want Steph getting sticky either.

"You make one, now."

Welp, that catches Steph off guard. She gives Cass a funny look, then laughs--Cass is Cass. It's all harmless.

"Mine's a surprise, though. Go sit on the couch and I'll bring it over, okay?"

[hellofist]

Well that's interesting, but Cass just watches Stephanie for another few moments before nodding and sliding off the counter. She goes to sit in the living room and even respects the whole surprise thing, closing her eyes and not peeking into the kitchen to see what's going.

"Okay, ready."

Okay, Steph. Gotta make this good. She stares at her choices for a while, then settles on vanilla ice cream, strawberries, chocolate chips, and caramel syrup. And sprinkes. Those might look cool, blended!

Once she blends it all together, she pours two glasses and goes to join Cass on the couch, sitting right next to her.

"Alright. I haven't tried it yet, so we can both be disgusted together if it's terrible. Don't hate me."

[hellofist]

Once she's there and sitting, Cass opens her eyes. Hey look, sprinkles do look cool blended up. She takes one of the glasses, but then frowns at Stephanie.

"Don't be dumb. You're you. Will always love you."

[secondchances]

That gets a shoulder nudge.

"I'm just saying. I know that's true, Cass."

[hellofist]

She'll just nudge back then, but she stays leaning with her shoulder against Steph's. Personal space is for losers.

But the drink looks good, so Cass lifts her glass up and takes a few long sips of it.

Steph takes a taste of the drink too, leaning against Cass as well. This is nice. She sort of wishes it were colder out, so they'd have more reasons to cuddle under tons of blankets.

[hellofist]

When she sees that in Steph, Cass puts her arm around her and pulls her closer, leaning back so they can snuggle together on the couch. There doesn't have to be excuses for this, but if Steph wants to make them she'll let her.

"This is nice." She means more than just the milkshake, of course. "Kind of... making me cold. Can you reach blanket?"

There. Fixed.

"It's pretty good," Steph agrees, though maybe she means more than the milkshake, too. She smiles slyly at Cass when she asks for the blanket, but there's no argument from her as she grabs it and drapes it over their laps.

"Now it's perfect."

[hellofist]

Glass precariously balanced on the arm of the couch for a moment, Cass tucks the blanket around the both of them, making sure they can stay warm. Maybe she'll have to look into breaking the thermostat so this is always a thing they have to do or something, but for now making up reasons is fine.

"Very perfect. We can just... stay like this, til milkshakes run out. Then get more."

[secondchances]

She relaxes against Cass, lazily drinking her shake.

"Or we just wait here until Tim shows up and have him get us more."

[hellofist]

Leaning her cheek against the top of Steph's head, Cass lifts her hand to absently run her fingers through the other girl's hair.

"Good plan, but might backfire. What if... finish shakes, but he takes... hours, to come home?"

[secondchances]

"Then we have to wait here for hours, because I'm not moving." She slides her free arm behind Cass.

[hellofist]

"How terrible." Yeah right, it only sounds like the best thing ever, especially after how much time they've been apart lately.

After a few more sips of her milkshake, Cass has a better idea.

"My turn, after this one. You stay here, keep place warm. I'll make milkshake, then... hurry back to you."

[secondchances]

"But that still requires moving," Steph whines, snuggling against Cass some more. "Maybe I prefer you over milkshakes, huh?"
