Dragon problems

While the students are gathered in the dining hall, or at least, are supposed to be, Felix and some of the Hogwarts staff assemble in the
Staff room to discuss their current dilemma in the shape of a wild dragon roaming the grounds. It's some kind of miracle that nobody has been killed or maimed yet, and if the term is to continue uninterrupted, it should probably be dealt with swiftly.

Standing up with his back against a desk, Professor Harrowgate signals the assembled staff.

"If this is everyone, we may as well start. The problem is simple enough to state. I can't even begin to wonder where a wild dragon came from, but it has to go. We need to come up with a plan to capture it and enact said plan as soon as possible. Ideally tonight, before the Quidditch finals are scheduled to take place. Any suggestions?"

Allen sat at a chair at the table of the staff room, watching the others as they gauge their reactions. He's a newer teacher than the others, much younger and less experienced, maybe the others will have background in knowing what to do.

Aw, who was he kidding- he just knows he's going to get volunteered as bait or something equally terrible. He was just keeping quiet in some vain hope that it won't be the case again.

[atrophied]

Suggestions, huh? "Sacrifice a virgin. Walker will work."

HE KNEW IT.

Have an appalled look of indignation as he speaks up. "I will not! That's a stupid plan!"

[atrophied]

House looks mildly stunned. "Because you're not a virgin?"

Felix resisted the urge to either smirk or roll his eyes.

"As decent as a suggestion as that sounds, I think something a little less Dark Arts-flavored would be preferable."

[atrophied]

"What dark magic? Just throw him outside with a steak. Worked for the Muggles."

See? It's not dark magic. It's history.

"That's-" He looks flustered and extremely agitated. "That is none of your business!"

And at Felix, he gives an annoyed scoff. "It's not a decent suggestion at all! It's bollocks! Someone please come up with a real suggestion!"

[atrophied]

"So you are a virgin."

Allen's sex life (or lack thereof): way more interesting than a dragon.

On plenty of occasions, it did not work for the Muggles, Gideon writes out, passing his tablet over to House. He's deeply tempted to roll his eyes.

Ok is it actually possible to have a staff meeting where our respective sex lives don't come into the conversion?

[He sighs before taking another sip of coffee. They just aren't paying him enough to deal with this shit.]

What would you guys say to trying to tame it?

Howl may just be walking in the door (because being fashionably late is about the only dependable thing about him) but he doesn't have to guess what the topic is about.

"Oh, and then what? Maybe we could get it to do tricks?"

[honeytoes]

Well now that you mention it I am getting sick and tired of having to go all the way to the front door to get my morning paper.

[strangewonders]

I'm sure that would work wonderfully, assuming you like your morning paper on fire.

[honeytoes]

[Gary rolls his eyes.]

Yeah what does the nameplate on my door say? It says Assistant professor in the care of magical creatures...not Chump who doesn't know what he's doing

I think under the right conditions I could have her trained within a month.

[strangewonders]

[Howl gives a long-suffering sigh]

Oh, dear. Am I supposed to be impressed?

[honeytoes]

No you're supposed to give your colleagues the benefit of the doubt.

[Gary could feel his patience start to run out.]

Castiel has been listening to the aforementioned discussion that seemed to be a little too focused on who Allen Walker may or may not have had relations with, but deemed it far too pointless to actually take part in considering the effort it would take. So he's just drinking coffee too, pretending to read and grade papers, though he does have a suggestion when the conversation becomes a little less idiotic.

He pulls one of the spare pieces of parchment he has with him closer, writing out a quick note and passing it over to Gary.

Taming it might be possible, but is unlikely. Do we have any knowledge as to why the dragon chose to come here to begin with?

Because if it was for a specific reason, they might be able to get rid of that reason and prompt the dragon to leave on its own.

Felix shot the more silent staff member a look.

"Passing notes, Professor?"

Castiel just gave him a look right back, switching to sign language he didn't expect anyone to understand.

Better?

"I don't think this works very well if we don't discuss our idea with the group as a whole. If you have something to discuss privately with Professor Sitterson, I don't see why you could not do so on your own time," Felix said, not understanding, but annoyed that the two men did not seem to think he was interested when he had suggested the meeting in the first place.

[honeytoes]

[Gary takes a look at the note then starts to write his own.]

Maybe it sees this place as a good scouting location for food? Look all I know is this could be a wonderful opportunity to learn more about them as a species. Getting rid of it just seems short sighted.

[He then passes it to his colleague.]

[Castiel nods as he reads the note; he can hear fine even though he can't speak, so notes back to him aren't necessary, but he does appreciate them. It's less awkward than one person talking and the other writing.]

I am curious and would like to learn more about the dragon as well, but the safety of the students is of most import.

[honeytoes]

[Since his other workmates are more interested in professor Walkers sex life he thinks this is a better way to get his point across.]

I'm trying to get a hold of a shrinking charm from another colleague of mine in order to get it to a more obtainable size. The problem is he doesn't know how long it'll take to acquire and we can't exactly keep the students on lockdown forever can we?

[He looks fascinated by that, writing back quickly.]

That is a good idea. Perhaps there is a way to expedite the process, as it would be a viable solution and provide opportunity for study.
